Joe Torre may continue managing the Yankees for another three seasons. Newsday's Jim Baumbach and Jon Heyman report that Torre is "very, very close"
to signing a two-year contract extension with an option for a third.
Rumors that Aaron Boone is about to sign with the Yankees appear to be untrue. Yankees GM Brian Cashman told the New York Post's Michael Morrissey
that he has yet to offer a deal to Boone.
The Seattle Times's Bob Finnigan reports that the Mariners won't be dealing for another infielder. The Mariners asked about Tampa Bay's Geoff Blum,
but weren't interested in swapping one of their young relievers for the third baseman.
The Angels think that they will be able to sign Garret Anderson to a contract extension before he becomes a free agent. Owner Arte Moreno told the Los
Angeles Times's Mike DiGiovanna that he is "very confident something will get done". Anderson is believed to be seeking a four-year, $56 million
deal.
