The Phillies could be just a couple of days away from re-signing outfielder Doug Glanville.

Phillies general manager Ed Wade said yesterday that he was "cautiously optimistic" that they can work out a deal with Glanville, who played with the Phillies from 1998 to 2002.

Hmm, I wonder why they would bring back Dougy G. He was a good player but the Phillies outfield is set with Bobby Abreu, Pat Burrell, and Marlon Byrd. Maybe he'll be a bench player or even compete with Byrd for the starting centerfield position.

I think they said he would be a bench player to start and see how he does.

he will switch with him every other game so that those players wont get to tried and they will always be fresh.
