SEATTLE -- Mariners closer Kazuhiro Sasaki is making his second trip to the disabled list after injuring his ribs while carrying a suitcase up a flight of stairs in his home.

Seattle placed Sasaki on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to last Friday, before Wednesday night's game with the Montreal Expos.

Sasaki, 35, bruised his right ribs when he slipped and fell after arriving back home Sunday from the Mariners' 12-game roadtrip.

Ya, that sucks. They said he might not make it before the all star game.

Rib injury may keep Sasaki out beyond All-Star break

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Despite the initial hopes of both the Seattle Mariners and their ace relief pitcher, it's looking more and more like closer Kazuhiro Sasaki won't be back by the All-Star break, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Sasaki, healing from hairline fractures in his right rib cage, still can't move without incurring pain. As such, no date has been set for Sasaki to resume throwing. The All-Star Game is July 15 in Chicago.

The Mariners have been informerd by Kazuhiro Sasaki's agent that he may stay in Japan for the upcoming season, this could be a hurtful blow to the Marieners bull-pen. Saski is 7-16 with a 3.14 ERA and a club-record 129 saves for the Mariners since signing with Seattle

this is bad news for the Mariners, it seems that they don't know what is gonna happen as nothing like this has ever happened before, Sasaki has an 8 million dollar contract for next year, this will be interesting

Ryan Franklin hopes his win will put the Seattle Mariners' starters on a new streak.Franklin gave up four hits in eight sharp innings to become the first Seattle starter to get a victory in nine games, beating the Anaheim Angels 6-2 Thursday night. The drought was the team's longest since a 13-game stretch in August 2000. Seattle's only other win was credited to reliever Shigetoshi Hasegawa last Sunday at Oakland.

the mariners have been playing terrible baseball so far this year, they can't hit, pitch, or field, their running isn't so hot either, hopefully they are just off to a slow start and can get things turned around, already in the northwest there is speculation about a manger change
