Zero point energy according to stephen hawking is the best hope for a warp drive of some sort (if possible), it is the only available energy source that is absolutely everywhere and anywhere! Also it is limitless. But imagine if some sort of weapon could be made that harnesses this vast endless energy source! If such a weapon could be constructed it could propably destroy an entire galaxy or mabye even the universe.

Now i know we dont currently have anywhere near the level of technology to do this, but who knows, 100 years ago the nuclear bomb wasnt even thought of. I would hate to think we got a technology like this, as we are totally unprepared for the consequences.

Sounds way to powerful to be useful. the future of warfare is in precision, not overhwlming power. A dagger can work just as well as a nuke blast

The future of warfare should be an end to war, but alas, we all know that can never happen. Smart weapons are an oxymoron, hell what the US currently dubs smart seems pretty damn dumb, or at least the people operating and dropping them are the dumb ones, but either way they arent deserving of the title "smart weapons"

Yeah it's a serious concern.
I mean....

Ever wonder how the big bang happened? ...

Food for thought.

One hell of a job at reanimation of a long, long dead thread. 2003? (!)

I'm not familiar with Hawking's ideas about zero point energy. Can you provide some reference material on his speculation?

Ummm...No. A dagger isn't even comparable to a nuke. That's like saying a 100 watt bulb is just as good as the sun.

Although you're correct in that precision nuke strikes are a more tactical way to deploy them. However the psychological damage to witnessing the destruction of say a megaton warhead within a major city would also be very useful as well.

That would have to be one hell of a dagger to compete with either.

They still have another hand, two feet and a face to push that button with. Also an ass to just sit on it. Plus they could still use that bloody nub if they want. Not much effort in pushing a button.
