Who would have guessed, for any who are interested the number for info follows.

Sounds like the Total Police State is more imminent than percieved.

From what the news groups released, the people are dressed in white uniforms and black pants. Standard security guard attire actually. I suppose they are nothing more than glorified security guards to help beef up the security presence at the Whitehouse, and nothing more.

I heard about it on the local news the other night and had not a chance to follow up. Had anyone else heard of this new action?

Secret Service looking for GR recruits
By Diane Znamierowski
Posted: 11/21/2003

The Secret Service is coming to Grand Rapids hoping to find a few good men and women. That's because they need about 300 uniformed Secret Service officers to patrol various governmental sites in Washington D.C. Organizers say it's a good way to serve the country, and get into law enforcement.

To qualify as a uniformed Secret Service officer, you need to be a U.S. citizen between the ages of 21 to 36 with vision of no less than 20/60 uncorrected.

The Secret Service job fair is this Saturday from 9AM until 5PM at Grand Valley State University Eberhard Center.

sirCyco;
I highly doubt they would need to conceal any firearms in a fabricated container. Special agents have been known to use by far better weapons than the POS uzi. Glock 18 comes to mind for starters, many weapons have been officially and unofficially adopted by the federal forces. It's funny actually, the government tries to oppress our right to arm bears, while the government secretly finances new weapon programs for themselves.

*Pun about arming bears intentional, for those who don't know better.*

In certain situations no they dont have to hide their firearms but in many situations hiding the weapons is the chosen way to go such as low key speeches diners everyday escorts ect.. and yes they do use uzi's..you can do some research.

This was on the secretservice.gov website faq...

What types of weapons do agents carry?

Secret Service agents and officers carry the Sig Sauer P229, 357 caliber pistol. They also are trained on the Remington Model 870 shotgun, the Uzi submachine gun, and the MP5 automatic weapon.

Noone is contending the use of the uzi by the secret service.
Of course the SS used the POS uzi, as was made popular through media back during this event:

Secret Service agent armed with full-auto UZI ready for action seconds after attempted assassination of Pres. Reagan in 1981.

However, I prefure stopping power. It makes no sence to pump a dozen rounds into someone when one can do the job. Give me .45 and bigger, at least that way you know when you hit the target it won't keep advanceing.

Enough chit chat, next!
