It is a 5.56mm caliber assault rifle, it can fire up to 650 RPM, usually comes equipped with 30 bullet magazines, and is effective up to 500 meters, a good urban warfare weapon distance.

Always loved these rifles. Too bad us "civilians" can't get them here anymore. I'm just hoping that the "assault weapon" law get's left out of the senate session when the time comes. Not likely but I can always try to be optomistic.

As far as urban combat goes it would all depend on what I was doing. Attacking or defending. How "urban"? Who/what am I fighting? How realistic (or not )can my list be? Far too many variables to make a snap call.

is better than the mind. Nothing is more versitile and readily availible, not to mention lethal, as thought.

Useing firearms as weapons, we would be better going back in history as far as warfare is concerned. At least "collateral damage" would then not be an issue. There would be less violence today if people had to fight face to face with sword in hand. Alas those days are history...

Urban warfare has evolved only so little, the same principle of fighting ones way in, and then back out remains. Modern technology has allowed for advanced reconnaissance with the use of thermal and night enhanceing devices.

Truth be known, not everyone has the privilege of useing such equipment, and that is when it all comes down to useing what you have. Haveing rifles and pistols are nice when a threat arrives. Not all threats in an urban enviornment are directly hostile however. So weapons must be saved for last resource action.

I read that about 70% of casualties occur outside of structures. The cause of such being improper planning of and use of tacics. As the G.I. Joe cartoon made famous, "Knowing is half the battle.", and that often is the most difficult part.

To get back on track, weaponry in urban warfare should only be limited to the restrictions placed on onesself. Considerations should be taken as to the possible outcome/s of actions considered, and continued objectivity must be priority. Last but not least, information is the best weapon of all. Without it, nothing can be attained. With it, everything is at hand.
