Wait, I guess you get points for what you post? I think that is what it means, but I am not quite that sure

"shared with the viewing public" ???

You can access all but 2 forums.

These 2 are the "Really Above Top Secret" Which is for things that the mods feel shouldn't be shared with the public.

You can also view, but not post on the Collaborative Fiction, unless status is Writer. Debate and Research forums work the same way I believe.

Many ways.

Primarily by posting. Some forums are worth more than others. (ie BTS-type forums are worth less).

By having people reply to threads you started.

By getting 'applauded' by staff for an especially good post.

By winning competitions (ie debates etc).

By filling out some surveys.

Theres probably other ways that I've forgotten.

One thing to remember though.

If you have to have a post deleted, you lose a lot more than what you gained for posting it.

The opposite of an applaud is a warn. If a staff member has to warn you you lose a big chunk of points.

So basically you gain points by being active and a good contributor to the boards. People who spam to try and gain points usually end up in the -ve.

A method some people adopt is making pointless replies to posts. I'd never do that, though

*glances at points*

Nearly enough for the email address...

If you want to be a writer, U2U John Bull 1. It's a really fun forum!

Here's a thread with hints and tips about getting the most out of ATS.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Points are meant to encourage quality posts, so posting a load of crap won't do you any good. Original materia gets rewarded.

And don't argue with the mods and admins either, that's how you get banned!
