Need some info on the Caribbean

I'm going to the Caribbean this winter and I have never been before. I'm flying in to Guadaloupe where I don't think they speak English, just French. Great.. (good buds tho from what I hear). Anyone know any islands I can hit up? I'm going for scenic without $$. I'm stayin' two star max and Im looking for experience more than the luxury treatment. Proximity to Guadeloupe is key.

St Lucia, Antigua, Dominica, St Kitts, St Maarten, ST Eustatius, Saba, Grenada.

Those all speak English, altough you probably won't understand the English the inhabitants speak with each other.

Yeah they are.. Grenada is the furthest.
