Does anyone know anything about digital cameras?

I just got my GF a Nikon Coolpix P4 digi-cam so that she can photograph her art. It's a great camera, and has a bunch of cool features. One of the features that she wanted in a camera was an external flash mount, which this doesn't have, however, it can connect wirelessly to an external flash.

I never knew it was possible to connect to an external flash wirelessly, but I'm not much for digital photography, so I wouldn't know. My question is where would I find instructions and documentation on how to sync an external flash with the camera?

Thanks in advance

I guess it might be using "bluetooth" technology.

It is a wireless network that works "effectively" for 3-6 feet.

It is the same thing when you see people with the earpiece and no wire going down to their cell phone.

Right, it sounds like bluetooth, but I'm having difficulty finding out how to actually do it. I've googled, but found no instructions or manuals.

Some wireless flashes use light as the communication method!
The tiny in-camera flash. Send pulses of light to the other flash units.
Like morse code.

There is a nice page explaining some of the details here.
www.friedmanarchives.com...

I have a Sony a100 DSLR (based on a milolta model), that can use this method..

Have you checked the Nikon web page for the P4 ?

www.nikonusa.com...

They have a user's manual that you can download in PDF, and the file is about 25 MB.
With a file that size it should have every bit of info your looking for, and more..

Hope that helps.

LOL,

Oh yeah..
Sometimes reading the manual is helpful too. I should start reading those things.
