PODcast: Vietnam History - Episode 1 - Into The Quagmire

This is an outstanding 8 Episode audio documentary that was sent to me recently from a Vietnam Historian that was also a big fan of Radio First Termer. It takes the listener on a journey from the hopeful beginning of President John F. Kennedy to the bitter end on a rooftop of the American Embassy in 1975. What could we have learned that would have prevented the mistakes that would follow after in Iraq? Listen… then make your own conclusions.

Hey First Termer....

I started listening to these about 5 days ago, and finished up today (Christmas Day)...

The series is extremely well put together... I have to say that
it moved me in a bit of depression after awhile and I had to stop
and take a break from listening and do something else to take my mind off of it...

A tremendous documentary which sounds as if it should've been a TV Production.

I hope you don't mind.. But I'm just going to copy and paste this post in all the series episodes as I really don't know what more I could say about them.

Great production...

Of all the episodes.... this first one really sets the stage. The French get their asses kicked...... the United States sees what transpires..... and still decide that it is the right thing to do to prevent the spread of Communism. What is really amazing about these episodes..... when looking back 40 years or so to the very beginning of the Advisor stage...... the arrogance of the politicians and leadership of the United States thinking that it was going to be an easy and quick victory because of the superior weapons and technology. That is what makes the Iraq situation so sad..... it is the same quagmire that the French were in followed by the United States...... you would think a lesson was learned by what happened in Vietnam.
