Were Watching You

Topic started on 17-11-2003 @ 02:01 PM by outsidethemilkglass

On mapquest you can get a nice, decent satellite view of... your house, your street, anywhere on earth

(have fun with this area 51 fans)

this is a free service, now what i am questioning is what is out there that you pay for? and what is out there used by the government?

since NASA is funded by the government, anything could be watching you.

White House... within the past 6 hours

Although, the thing I noticed is that some of these photos are out of date. I know that the photo of my street is at least 2 years old.

How often are these updated??

outsidethemilkglass > most of those types of images are taken either by the USGS or commerical companies. However the US government has many satellites (KeyHole and Lacrosse) that have imaging packages that can do all the stuff you hear about like reading a licenseplate or quarter from space, or track radioactive items from space.

Where in that image exactly can you see the amount of ac units Mr. Bush has?
If your vision is that good, maybe you need to work as a spy satellite yourself.
This is the extent of the zoom level available to the public, anything else is either military or govt only.
Quit with the paranoia already.
.......
Ok....I take it all back. Forget everything I said. I should have searched before I spoke(typed). This is valid paranoia...
www.globexplorer.com...
The company that funds this technology sells any photo on record. Some as detailed as picking up objects that are less than 1 foot !! That seems like invasion of privacy to me. Or is that the point...there is no longer privacy.

I found something cool. They really dont let you look at groom lake on mapquest. I looked in Rachel, Nevada. No areal Photo. On Terraserver it was completely blocked out. And on GlobeXplorer it went goofy. I have nothing else better to do. I would though figure since private organizations have funded satelite images of the facility that they wouldnt care anymore. If someone actually gets an image of that off mapquest or something let me know.

www.terraserver.com...

This one lets you zoom in until you can see individual cars. You can see where tracks disappear into the mountain, where the underground passages are.

Zzub,

great pic!

big place for something that does not exist.

does this include the runway extension or recent work done there that I remember hearing about?

does anyone know why they need the world's longest runway there?

I believe it does include the new 6 mile runway, which extends out into that flat, deserty looking bit.

What on earth needs 6 miles to land? (pun intended). I wish I knew.

Still, it's interesting that these pictures were only released after the russians started selling thier satellite pictures of Groom Lake.

keep in mind those area 51 pics are probably out of date meaning any new or recent editions could be either edited or non-existent
