I have never been a big supporter of these doomsday predictions. But, there could be another way that the feared date of 2012 will end our very existance. On December 21st, 2012, I see nothing at all happening, as far as doomsday events go. But, if the world would end as a result of the prediction, this is what I do see:

There are alot of people out there who believe in this prediction. In the days before Dec. 21st, they will all most likely sell their homes and move to the wilderness, commit suicide for fear of the coming end, begin doing crazy things such as stealing and killing and such, all because they believe the world is coming to an end. As a result of this, our Western countries will be riddled with chaos and fear. Terrorism will spike. The prediction will also lead to sectarian violence and possibly civil wars, and I hope we're not in Iraq during that time. We, as the U.S., will have our hands full already with economic crisis as a result of the worldwide chaos, and the wars will go unnoticed. Countries like China and North Korea and Iran will see this as a perfect opportunity to move their forces out and take control while the U.S. and NATO are out of the picture. China will move into Southeast Asia and Taiwan, North Korea will move south, and Iran will mobilize it's forces and move into the Middle East including. Iraq, which will still be totally incapable of defending itself. Syria, Lebanon, the Palestinians, and Egypt will most likely side with Iran and mobilize their forces into Israel. Israel will most likely prevail, though it will suffer heavy losses and lose some of its land.

About a month later, after we see that nothing happened, we will have to live with the aftermath. The US and EU will be struggling to regain their economical footing, and just beginning to realize the damage that has been done worldwide. The US will also be overcrowded in port areas on the West Coast from South Korean refugees, as North Korea will have pretty much dominated all of South Korea. China will have pushed deep into Southeast Asia, probably down to into Indonesia and most of the Pacific Islands around it. Iran will control Iraq and Kuwait, and possible parts of the UAE. There will most likely be a DMZ set up bordering the new Iran and Saudi Arabia, who will be fighting off the Iranians. Israel will be struggling in a slow fight to gain their land back.

If the world is going to end in 2012, this is how it will happend. Not by the second coming of Christ, or natural disasters or global warming, but by the sheer fear and anticipation of it.

Nope. Sorry - I completely disagree. The doomsday scenario you describe is totally unrealistic and unfathomable. Just my opinion, and I mean no disrespect to yours whatsoever, but the laundry list of disastrous consequences as you unfolded them would take many years and can not unravel in a few days, weeks or even months approaching the end of 2012.

Just curious: if all those that believe this prediction of yours (are you one of them?) were to do as you said they would - sell their homes and move to the wilderness to commit suicide and kill, etc - who are they selling to?

As far as I'm concerned, I'll be the first in line to quickly buy those homes and bid all those heading to the wilderness to kill themselves and each other a fond farewell. Good riddence. BTW - it takes many weeks or months to typically complete the sale of a home - can't happen in the "days before Dec 21st". For one thing, all of us normal folk will be out Holiday SHopping and decorating our homes with festive decorations - not running into the forest in a panic with crazed looks on our faces and kitchen knives slashing our throats and others.

Geez - get a grip...

Yes, the world is not perfect. Yes - we may have serious trouble in many global hotspots for decades to come. But the sky is not going to fall and humanity won't go insane en masse simply because yet another doomsday date is coming and going on an arbitrary calendar.

I wish you well and mean well, though if your OP is a genuine reflection of your inner self, it may be time well spent for you to visit a good psychoanlayst to help you determine if there are other personal matters that you need to address.

You say you have never been a supporter of such predictions and see nothing happening, BUT, you say, IF IT DID, your scenarion is what you DO SEE. Quite revealing. I'm worried for you...

Good luck - and keep looking up!

to all you people who are looking at 2012 from the WRONG PERSPECTIVE

the date was important to the mayans yes but first this date was a culmination of a P R O C E S S not a one day thing like many have failed to understand even though the world ending on some day seems to fascinate people and take on a life (OR THREADS) of its own

the mayans beleived ( as some specualte dec 21 2012 would be the most likely date the process would be completed) however there is also a camp which states OCT 28, 2011 is the date of completion. either way this a process and it was the end of one cycle of greation and the dawning of a new age, an age of enlightenment, and age of creation, an age where thought and manifestation are simultanious , ( new age followers describe hypothesize it is when we break thru to the fourth diimension supposedly when we the schuman resonanse reaches appox 13 hz.

fyi the militiary used to use the schuman resonance to measure time since it had been constant around 7.8 cycles per second. since 1987 however ( coincidentally) the days in which the last cycle of THIS age begun according to the mayan, the schuman resonance speeded up and is now somewhere between 11-12. creation is speeding up. time is accelerating if u will. (at least our perception of man made time)

it is also interesting to note that according the philadelphia and montauk experiments supposedly there was no tangible future beyond 2011 or 2012 there was more of a dream like reality.

MANY beleive if u can not ascend and raise your vibrations in conjunction with earth's rising vibrations u may not be able to physically remain healthy enough to live. these earth changes that we are witnessing (named global warming ; which may very well be an accurate (warming) side effect of what is occuring) or not, but there is evidence similiar events are happening recently throughout our GALAXY. this higer vibrating energy which is a time when we have a chance to ascend, or die is also THOUGH of as a period of time as the second coming of christ, (which i beleive is a state of mind) christ energy because the emotions that resonate at the higher frequency's that we are supposed to be moving toward is LOVE. maybe that is why so many are expected to die ( who will live to see heaven on earth only those who CAN forgive, accept , understand and love, and LOVE geniuinly give to others with the intention of making them feel better will cause your vibrations to rise. this group definitely falls in the minority.

I just want to say that you cant compare this date with other 'doomsday prophesies. If you know anything about the mayans than you know that they had a better understanding of time and space then we probably do now. Saying that nothing is going to happen because christains have predicted doomsdays before and nothing happened doesnt mean anything. The gregorian calendar that if used by christians and most people is flawed. Besides the obvious reasons, like how AD didnt start immediately when jesus was born, The calendar doesn't correctly match with moon and sun cycles like the mayan calendar does. When you take into account the knowledge this civilization had (im not going to name all when there is plenty of research to find), I don't think it is right to just dismiss that date as another doomsday prediction by superstitious 'savages'. I think if you just read into it a little more it may be more easy to accept a major change as a possibility.

I would also like to add here that many people think different things about this date and it certainly doesn't mean armegeddon. People dont see it as an end of the world as much as an end of the world as we know it. Looking at technology, unexplainable phenomenon, and world events, it is not too far fetched to accept this as a possibility. Intelligent life took millions of years, the agricultural revolution took thousands, industrial took hundreds, information took decades. Why is it so hard to accept that another major change will revolutionize life within the next few years?
