First off I have to say ''It,s dark in here''

Now being a travelling person I,m used to the wonder that is the laptop and the ease of plugging in the purchased item to an appropriately sized hole.

But upon waiting for delivery on a pc.I found a rather useful sound card and bought it.
Upon reading the instructions it says it must be stuck in a .. PCI 2.1 COMPLIANT slotamathingy..

What is PCI 2.1 ?
like the new standard of pci slots?oldish?redundant?
There must be some genius techies in here that know

I bought/am buying the
Packard bell Imedia has the
Rio (GA-8TRC410MNF-RH) Motherboard..
1x PCI Express 16X,1x PCI Express 1X,2x PCI expansion slots

I want to stick in a
Emu proteus x(needs PCI 2.1 compliant slot for E-MUŽ 0404 PCI card)

So my question to the tech junkies out there is... Do I buy a large hammer too?

To the super duper MODS .

Is this a suitable place for this question?
If not please move to where the realllllly clever computer literate geeks... erm generous geniusses hang out. thanks

I prefer geek, myself.
And I didn't even know Packard Bell was still around!
But yes if the motherboard was made any time this century (cool to say that, huh?), it's definitely PCI2.1 compliant.

Now I can watch X -Factor with a self satisfied glow.
