A few facts about planning around using military goods.
Having served on active duty let me explain something to you.
first the weapons.
Stored in secure store rooms that are rated to withstand 2 hrs of attack.
all vehicle mounted weapons that cannot be removed and stored in the secure room are disabled... tanks have the main guns firing pin removed...Bradley
Fighting Vehicles have the bolt and track removed, so no joy there
second ammo
Ammo being stored with weapons is a sin as far as the army is concerned.
small arms ammo is stored in secure bunkers scatered around bases.
large ammo like for the tanks is even harder to get, I dont think alot of the stuff is stored at most army bases, I think it is stored off base at
secure bunkers.
Third Food.
MRE's and food are stored in wharehouses. Not at National Guard Armories and the like.
Fuel.
Unless you have a vehicle that runs on JP8 or JP4 you are out of luck.
Vehicles.
Most military vehicles need 1-10 hrs of maintenance for every hour of operation (aircraft needing the most)
bases
Long ago has the balistic projectile rendered fortifications useless. All bases and forts are guarded by chainlink fence.
So, I think some people need to read both WWZ and the zombie handbook.
Even though I have issues with some of the views in both they are good.
So, IMHO, You goto a grocerystore, start moving all non parishables to ROOF, if you baricade doors you should buy time, and concentrate on the palets
in the back. During the Day travel to find supplies, the rule is quiet-quiet-quiet, choose to hide rather then fight.
priorities are
water
warmth
food
security (assuming that the roof provides immediate security)
I could transform a roof top AC unit into a fire pit pretty easily.
I will post more later. gtg Shufflers comming cross the parking lot

Hysterical Historical zombie outbreak in Egypt
www.archaeology.org...
Hierakonpolis is a site famous for its many "firsts," so many, in fact, it is not easy to keep track of them all. So we are grateful(?) to Max
Brooks for bringing to our attention that the site can also claim the title to the earliest recorded zombie attack in history. In his magisterial
tome, The Zombie Survival Guide (2003), he informs us that in 1892, a British dig at Hierakonpolis unearthed a nondescript tomb containing a partially
decomposed body, whose brain had been infected with the virus (Solanum) that turns people into zombies. In addition, thousands of scratch marks
adorned every surface of the tomb, as if the corpse had tried to claw its way out! [Editor's note: click here for an interview with Max Brooks and a
timeline of archaeologically documented zombie outbreaks.]
Something to think about.....

they're not serious. Read it again and you'll see that they are thanking Brooks for using the location and then they seem to debunk his claims a
bit without stating the zombie attack never happened. the whole article is somewhat tongue in cheek.

Yep....
I own both of Max Brook's zombie books. I'm pretty sure The Zombie Survival Guide isn't a 'Tome'.

A .22 long rifle is the best. Ammo is cheap and can be found ANYWHERE, It only produces about 75 decibels unsilenced, has enough power to
penetrate the human skull at 200 meters, and when silenced it makes no more noise than an air rifle, has no recoil so you can shoot all day and not
have a sore shoulder. Get on top of a building and snipe away!

I say Barack Obama should schedule a summit where he can address all the "Zombie" issues....oh wait, he already is...with the President from Iran.
I think zombies are misunderstood and should be brought into the picture when it comes to any affirmative action qualifications...

The problem with rifles is that they suck when it comes to close combat.
The majority of the fighting you'll be doing in a zombie outbreak will be close to mid-range combat, so personally, my preferred weapons will be a
handgun (of any variety) or similar weapon that can be used with one hand in close combat (harpoon guns, mini-crossbows, etc), and a sturdy
melee weapon, which there will be plenty of.
Getting involved with zombies at a distance is a waste of precious ammo, impo.

Waste of ammo? Ok heres the scenario, i'm baricaded in my house with food and water. They can't get to me, and i'm picking them off about 50 to 75
meters from my roof. I'm pretty safe. I'm not getting infected, neither is my family. You on the other hand, come up against 20 or 30 of them,
convinced it's better to take them on in hand to hand. You'll get tired of swinging your weapon by the time you kill 10 if your lucky. If your using
a pistol then after you kill 15 if your a good enough shot then they'll get you while your trying to reload. Unless you have a pistol like they have
in the movies that never runs out of ammo. If you do tell me where you bought it because i want one
Oh and what the hell does impo stand for?

I really think that the scenario that is described in world war Z is pretty close to what would happen. I do not think that any individual survival
would work very well. I mean long term survival depends on renewable sources of food and water, along with medical needs and other things that we
have become dependant on. Like it or not we need doctors and stuff.... so I really think that a lone wolf sitting on his house picking off zombies
doesn't work for more than a couple months. People who decide to stay and fight would have to band together and start a small city within a wall or
natural barrier.
so zombie survival comes down to time and patience...
remember no country has ever been able to achieve "total war"...who ever heard of taking a crap for victory... but with the zombies they are capable
of total war.

That is why i live in a small town. If everyone else turned into a zombie i have enough ammo to take them all out.
