Yep.
We ALL love music.
Music is universal.
Even if you don't understand the words, or their aren't any words at all.
Music is something that comes from the soul and speaks directly to the soul.
So, bare your souls to me people.
What are your favorite bands?
Who are your favorite musicians?

Some of my favorites include:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Tangerine Dream
GWAR
the Misfits
Iron Maiden
Etro Anime
Gravediggaz

...and that's all I'm willing to share with you, until some of you decide to share with me that is...

Aahhhh...
Went to go see GWAR last night in NYC.
They're so freakin' awesome.
Y'know, at first, I was thinking, "hey, I've seen them a bunch of times so I'll just hang back and let the kids take up the front..." but...as soon as they started setting up the stage, I fought my way up front (which required an obscene amount of a$$ kicking) and stayed up there for the whole show. Yes, I got the $&#t beat out of me. Yes, I was covered in all manner of fluids. Yes, I lost my voice. Yes, I'm hurting something fierce today as a result. And, YES, it was totally worth it!!!

Can we add "what's your favorite concert to attend?" to this thread?

Man I've had more fun at GWAR shows than any other. The last show I went to (about 3 years ago mind you) I walked away covered in GWAR blood, urine and semen.

One of my old HS crushes actually made out with Oderus, which of course made me love her even more. After all, the man is ugly as sin, yet she had no problem with it. It made my chances that much better. Nothing came of it.

I absolutely love Bad Religion.

I'm also a huge Fatboy Slim fan.

I think that Sublime is incredible.

I adore PJ Harvey (thats right, adore. So deal with it).

I used to listen to a lot more Metallica than I do now.

I am a big fan of Bhangra.

I'm also into this Reggaetone stuff, but I am not familiar enough to know anything beyond "Rompe" and "Gasolina" (but those are fun songs).

My itunes playlists right now that i tend to listen to the most are:

  1. Alternative: Cowboy Bebop sountrack, Papa Roach, PJ harvey, G. Love and Special Sauce, Electric Six
  2. Classic Rock: Billy Joel, CCR, Clapton, Thorogood, Jethro Tull, Zeppelin, Paul Simon, The Police, Queen, Steve Miller, etc.
  3. "Goofy Hardcore": CKY and The Bloodhound Gang
  4. Punk: Against All Authority, Blink 182, Face to Face, The Clash, NOFX, Misfits, Rancid, Greenday, etc
  5. Reggae: Marley, Matisyahu, Sean Paul (close enough, similar beat imo)
  6. Rock: Andrew WK (its just too fun to ignore), DMB, Kid Rock, etc
  7. Ska: The Toasters, The Bosstones, The Pietasters, Long Beach Dub All Stars, Perfect Thyroid, etc
  8. Garage: The Hives, Los Straitjackets, The Monks, etc
  9. Chutney: Panjabi MC, B21, and Bhangra songs
  10. My Rap: Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill, Gravediggaz, House of Pain, The Streets

Along with indivual artist playlists that I listen to a lot like one for Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk, Bad Religion, Apocalyptica, Matisyahu, Sublime, Black Sabbath, Gypsy Kings (gotta be in the mood for that though). I have a Country list and a Jazz list and a Classical list, but don't listen to them much. I have a few electronica lists, but tend to go for the Fatboy Slim. I think that PJ Harvey goes great on a list with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds.

I just made a list of my 10 most often played songs, and its all Matisyahu plus Jogi from Panjabi MC and Galang from MIA. They're also new songs that I've recently purchased from iTunes.

Here's a thread of avatars for bands and musicians

Here's a good free resource for Bhangra.

Maybe this is a bit much, but here are screenshots of my iTunes library. As you can tell by the bar on the right, there is still a long way to go, but I won't post it all. I've been told my taste is eclectic, and here's a taste of my taste.

And keep in mind, this isn't even past the "A"s.
