But as some people remember the inaccurate ak-47

lasted through water and sand. While the m-16 cluged

up. So I would rather have an inaccurate weapon but

that works then a none working one.

it is true that an out of the box m16 is usually more
accurate than a comparable ak47; however it has been my
experience that at 100 yards i can put 20 rounds from
either weapon into a paper plate. paper plates aren't much
larger than a human head, so i dont see a problem if the
ak47 shoots 20 rounds all about an 8 inch circle or the m16
puts the same 20 rounds through an area the size of a 50
cent piece.

it occurred to me, that the enemy would be just as dead,
and he wont care whether you "vented his spleen" with a 30
caliber weapon or a 22 caliber weapon. buy the weapon that
appeals to you, and that you can afford to shoot a lot of
ammo with........if you are not comfortable with your
weapon, you start at a disadvantage when facing an
adversary.

I will have to look around, but I read an article not to long ago about the shortage of weapons for soldiers in Iraq. The US soldiers were authorized to carry AK47s and when asked about their preference and overwhelming number of soldiers choose the AK. It is the more duarble weapon of the 2 hands down and it can fire both M16 and AK ammunition. The M16 requires meticulous maintenance and will "lock up" long before an AK47. The M16 is more accurate at longer ranges, but as for knock down power and reliability you gotta go with the AK. If these were your only choices.

ak-47 has more stopping power due to the larger 7.62 as opposed to the 5.56 the m-16 has.

the m-16 is lighter due to the light weight abs platics used in construction.

you can buy a cheaper version of the ak-47 in the u.s. called the sks assult rifle...im not realy aware of a pseudo m-16 availible but the are many versions that are similar to the m-16....ar-15,car-15,Colt XM177,Colt XM-177 E2 Mklll,M4 A1 R.I.S....but the are are also many different versions of the ak-47 such as the akm-47,akm-74 which is a 5.45 cal,and the rpk as well as many other versions.

apparantly I dont understand the physics of gun shooting too well, but isnt the rifle only as accurate as the person shooting it?

AK is THE BATTLE RIFLE,

Armalite (CAR-15/M4/M16 etc..) are good only for clean police work..

AK-100 Series..

AK-101 in 5,56x45mm Caliber..

AK-102 in 5,56x45mm Caliber..

For those who prefer 5,56x45mm (.223 Remington)..

Ill stick with 7,62x39mm M43 or 5,45x39mm M74..

Hollywood Miniguns: Predator vs. common sense.

In the year 1987 the movie "Predator" (starring A. Schwarznegger) hit the screens. One of the most impressive scenes was the one where the US Commandos, led by "Dutch" (Schwarznegger), attempted to fight back the alien Predator. One of Commandos was armed with the distinctive weapon, a 6-barreled rotary Minigun, fed from backpack ammo box. This gave the impression that the Miniguns can be used for infantry support. It must be noted, that in this movie a special, blank firing version of the Minigun was sued. The electric motor was powered via cable, hidden in the actor's pants, and the actor had to carry bulletproof vest and protective mask to avoid injuries from the fast and violently ejecting empty cases. Had this gun being fired using real ammunition, the actor would ended lying on his back, being forced off the legs by the violent recoil. The "backpack" ammo capacity, also, could be worth only several seconds of fire. lets calculate: 2 000 rounds of 5.56mm ammo will weight about 25 kg (55 lbs); 2 000 rounds of 7.62mm will weight about 2 times more, making such load almost impossible to carry on foots. yet this load of ammo will worth only 20 or so seconds of fire. Add some powerful batteries to power electrical drive of about 4KWt (4+ horse-power), and the bulk of the gun itself, and you'll see that even the strongest man won't be able to carry this load, less to fire it with any chance to hit, due to extremely powerful recoil.

The weapon is accurate enough for HEADSHOT AT 150-200m with ironsights..

(about 450-600 ft. / group of 10cm [4in] at 150m is factory default..)

It is all about the rifleman..

Belive on me this..

I have shot thousands of rounds with AK type of weapon..

ok back to the AK vs M-16, I'd choose for the AK, is much better in close combat. The M-16 is more acurate, but the AK uses larger clips and has more stopping power as mentioned before.
And of course the M-16 jams a lot faster.

damn that AK-101 looks awesome

i believe you can slap 100 drum round clips on both types of weapons...which would be great..

You see from the page to which i gave the link for..

There is no 5,45x39mm M74 'AK-10x' Rifle..

There is only carbine..

And this is because 'AK-10x' in 5,45x45mm M74 is AK-74M..

That has been Russian standart firearm since 1991..

AK-74M with grenade launcher, night scope and bayonet!

There are large mags for both:

For AKs

and

For Armalites..

It is just that anything larger than 30 round is quite bulky and unpractical..

For AKs largest is i belive 100 rounds drum,

And for Armalites 100 (C-MAG) round dual-drum which is a monster.. [There might also be 180 round drum around..]

More 'conventional' drum for Armilites is NR 90-round drum..
