Christmas has become an overhyped and crass display of commericialism. I think the spending time with close friends and family aspect of Christmas is wonderful and people should continue it, but the commercial aspect has gone way overboard.

Fortunately in the states we have Thanksgiving, which celebrates togetherness and all sorts of good things, just like Christmas once did. Like anything American, Thanksgiving is somewhat commercial, but nothing on a par with Christmas. I think we should keep Thanksgiving this way. Let's keep the Thanksgiving spending limited to a turkey and some yams. No thanksgiviving cards, no Thanksgiving gifts to your local bar's bouncer or pizza delivery guy or whomever demands a Christmas present these days, and no special thanksgiving hats. Let's keep Thanksgiving a day that we spend with close friends and family. If you have some extra money burning a hole in your pocket, donate it to a charity or something.

Peace out,

Pink

Good thought. You know, Thanksgiving really is a special event that no other country has and I think a lot of detractors would have a different view of America if they experienced it for themselves.

Let's hope it never changes.
