if you spit on the ground you are a bad person

I am just stating a fact... If you want to talk about things that are nasty and that start the spread of disease, money is a good place to look...

I really couldn't find too much about germs on money..There are some "debunkers" that I came across that try to argue otherwise, but I think the filth of money is pretty self-evident.

My point is, there are a whole lot nastier things than saliva coming out of someone's mouth.. Some of those things we are around each and every day..

spitting really gets my gander up! I hate it when you are walking on the street and someone spits right infront of where you are walking. Like some kind of territorial or machismo thing. Or you walk along and see great big 'greenys' on the pavement. It's disgusting and I'm all for having that banned.

What else is the gubment going to legislate? When we should go to sleep? How far we can walk? How many words in a day we can say? How often we can use the restroom? I can't believe how far above all of your heads this is going!!

No it isnt. Someone standing around you clears his throat and you hear that glob of phlegm in the mouth and then its gathered in the mouth and shot out, is the single one worse pet peeve i have, its revolting, disgusting and its unsanitary.

If you're a spitter, you can stay the heck away from me. Ohh and shutting one nostril so you can send one out of the other nostril at 500 miles per hour is right up there with this.

Sick sick sick.

What does our personal "peeves" have to do with the fact that the government is etching its way into our personal lives? If I want to spit or #,I'll do it..I don't need nor want the government legislating that.. No siree bob..

Ever use a pen chained to a bank counter or convience store ?
Ever used a tv remote in a hotel room ?
Think about it.

Let's forget about the government or legislation just for a moment.

Let's make a spitter a personal experience...

I invite said spitter to my home and, during a pleasant patio conversation, this person leans to the side, gathers a mouthful by hacking and horking and lets it fly onto my patio.

Hmmm... my wife and I are both barefoot and mark the spot for avoidance and cleanup later. We are also wondering about how to get our kids warned off before they do a slide in the greenie.

My next bit of conversation would be about having things to do and forcefully hinting that said spitter should finish his drink and be on his way.

Reverse the situation, Speaker Of Truth... I'm on your patio and I let a good lunger fly in front of you and yours... how would you feel?

What about the handrails on ecalators? Or not covering your mouth when you cough...

I wonder if maybe while they're at it if they could criminalize people biting their fork when they take a bite of something. I HATE THAT!

When leaving a washroom I always open the door with a paper towel (if there are any) or I put my dress/shirt over my clean washed hand as a barrier to open the door, so I do not have to touch the knob/handle.

I NEVER sit on the seat, I always carry tissues for this and if the cublicle or washroom is very uninviting I just do not even bother. I go elsewhere.

A lot of people do not have the intelligence to understand how germs and bacteria are spread, or choose to be just plain ignorant and lazy. I do not like being a hostage to their filthy habits. I'll bet they would be the first to scream if their child became sick with a nasty communicable disease like Hepatitis, Staphyloccus, Tuberculosis, Dysentery or any other nasties you care to add. Simple handwashing and electing not to spit in public places is really not too much to ask, is it?

Public phones (for those sans cell/mobile) and ATM's ....mmmm another breeding ground and a good reason to carry those moist wash cloths in your bag and even the car.

Can you imagine the state of the homes some of these people live in ?
YECCCHHHH

I have no prob with people havng a slash in the bush out of sight...it soon gets washed away and goes into the earth.

Peace to All

The whole point of this thread is about the draconian legislation, not our own personal "pet peeves"!!!

The whole point of the 'Draconian legislation is about protecting the public from spitters.

I'm all for it and would vote for that legislation.

Now...how about answering my question to you in my previous post?

I never said in my house...I said my patio, which is outside. Spit on my outside patio and it's 'see ya later', pal.

As far as in the woods or countryside is concerned, go ahead and spit, but, if it's in a town or city, on a subway platform or outside a restaurant, I'm the guy you see moving away. Give me a petition against spitting there and I'll sign right now.

I'm with speakeroftruth. Spitting is a normal physiological process, and if you spit on the sidewalk, away from people, it's not going to do any harm to anyone.

In fact anyone who's tried cycling in a busy city has little alternative but to spit occasionally, to rid the mouth of that pollution. ACK!. personally I always do it away from people, because I know it looks un-pleasant, but damned if I'm going to swallow a load of carcinogenic metal particulates from SUV exhausts, just to pander so someone's over-delicate sensibilities.

You might as well ban farting and sneezing while you're at it!

Does anyone here realise that contact with viruses and bacteria help to
BOOST the immune system ? What do you think vaccines are ?

2000 years ago, we had no anti-bacterial wipes, lotions or sprays. We got stronger by being exposed to new strains. That's just the way our immune systems work.

Now, take some poor child raised in Happy Anti-Bacterial Homemakers world for 18 years and put them in the real world. The person would STAY ill.

My previous post obviously didn't convey the message I thought it would.
We come into contact with stuff, daily.

Yes Lexion I do realise that and I am sure the some others who have contributed to this thread do as well.

But for those of us who have impaired immune systems due to medical conditions ( in my case chemo therapy) it is wise to be err on the side of caution and limit exposure to bacteria and germs when we can.

We do not exactly walk around with sandwich boards, tattoos on our foreheads or banners informing the wider public of our medical woes.

We just have to trust that others, like ourselves care enough about our fellow man to exercise common courtesy and sound hygiene practices when eliminating body wastes.

Just because one has a 'healthy' immune system there is no guarantee that the next nasty that infiltrates that body won't make that person sick or worse, kill them.

Influenza is a case in point....becoming more resistant with each new strain.

Safe & Happy Christmas to You All
