The experts are trying to discern the market trends. Are they going up as hoped for or are they going down as most non-experts have been indicating for months. The official version seems in doubt as they are now backing off on previous optimistic predictions.

NEW YORK (AP) — With December under way, Wall Street might begin counting down the number of shopping days left — not until the holidays, but until retailers can say with certainty how the shopping season fared and whether consumer spending held up as hoped.
Investors have received mixed signals on the health of retailers and consumers in general recently and in the coming week will be eyeing reports on factory orders as well as unemployment to gauge whether the economy is headed toward a soft
landing as many hope following more than two years of interest rate hikes.
Some on Wall Street keeping tabs on retailers are also watching the housing sector, wondering whether consumers might pare spending at the mall if they have concerns about falling home values. Investors have been wondering whether the well-documented slowdown in housing might pull the economy into recession or perhaps merely serve as a drag on growth. A quarterly report from upscale homebuilder Toll Brothers Inc. this week could lend some additional insight into the state of the sector.

How long ago were they asking why the ‘uninitiated’ did not get it that the economy was so so good. The corporate news mouthpieces could not quite see why we weren’t all falling over ourselves praising the powers that be for this robust economy. Didn’t GW profess amazement that he wasn’t getting his props for the great fiduciary oversight he was providing? Now they all knew and we should have known better.

Please people don’t let these experts manipulate us again. We told them the economy was only benefiting the bourgeoisie who were heavily invested in the Carlyle Group, Halliburton, KBR, Becthel, Lockeheed Martin and others. They said it was all good. Let’s ship some more jobs overseas and break some more unions and force American laborers to accept pay cuts so the trans-nationals can pad the bottom line and reward their top execs al la Enron.

Don’t let the manipulators replace or rewrite our own memories. We know what they are doing. They are selling our future down he drain to enrich themselves. They say, we don’t need to worry about the environment, don’t worry about the trillions the pentagon has ‘lost’ and don’t investigate anything the governments done, trust them. Let’s be clear if you are not one of the top 15% of Americans wealthy your government has been screwing you for at least the last 6 years and probably much longer than that. Don’t go back to sleep this is how they manipulate us with their lies. Peak oil, a lie, Global Warming, in most cases it does not last. The economy is good? For who?

Remember that the french revolution happenned because the middle-class was angry and that the bourgeoisie was abusing their power... and that the government was tyrannical. This look likes what's happenning to USA...

Just saying...

I think you might need a quick review of the French Revolution.

The causes of the French Revolution, the uprising that brought the regime of King Louis XVI to an end, were manifold. France in 1789, although facing some economic (and especially fiscal) difficulties, was one of the richest and most powerful nations in Europe; only in Great Britain and the Netherlands did the common people have more freedom and less chance of arbitrary punishment. At the time Louis XVI called the Estates-General of 1789, he himself was generally popular, even if the nobility and many of the king's ministers were not.

Nevertheless, the ancien régime was brought down, partly by its own rigidity in the face of a changing world, partly by the ambitions of a rising bourgeoisie. Allied with aggrieved peasants and wage-earners and with individuals of all classes who were influenced by the ideas of the Enlightenment. As the revolution proceeded and as power devolved from the monarchy to legislative bodies, the conflicting interests of these initially allied groups would become the source of conflict and bloodshed.
