PS 3 or X Box 360???

Buy a 360. That's my new advice to this question. If you have to ask, then you need a 360.

That said:
-PS3 has better graphics hands down. There is no comparison really. 360 fanbois will throw screen cap after screen cap at you to 'prove' otherwise but it's all smoke and mirrors. The only available comparison is cross platform games and these DO look better on the 360, they have to be dumbed down to run on the PS3. Take a PS3 exclusive though and it's hands down better then anything on the 360.

Blu-Ray vs. HD:
-HD is gonna win (in my opinion). Yes Blockbuster is carrying BluRay exclusively (right now). Yes Sony is pushing BluRay hard. However, there is a massive price cut on the HD players right now for the silly season. I believe they are down to about a hundred bucks here in the states now. After Xmas they are gonna be in most every home that wants one. PLUS, for what it's worth, Sony has made statements about NEVER realeasing adult titles on Bluray. Perv's vote with their wallets...

Backwards compat:
-Is this truely an issue? If you have a huge PS2 or XBox game library play on those systems. I realize that Sony has the most games backwards, but why would you play last gen trash on a next gen system. I have a 60gig PS3 because that was the last one to have onboard hardware emulation, honestly I don't see a bit of dif between the PS2 titles I have tried on PS3 or the Xbox titles I have tried on the 360.

End game:
-The 360 has a MUCH BETTER current library and all cross platformers are designed with it in mind. Get a 360 unless you have KNOW you want the PS3 exlusives EXCLUSIVELY.

What??? HD beat Blu Ray? Ha, is that why there are what, 1 HDS movie for every 3 in stores? Hmmm, want to buy an High Def movie, it only comes out in Blu Ray, can't buy it on HD. At the stores around here(Wal Mart, Meijer, so forth) They have sections and the Blu Ray section is almost always twice the size if not more because they have more titles.

Also, spend 500 on a 360 Pro for HD player or 399 for a Blu Ray player on the PS3.

Also, junk on the PS2? What "Junk"? Is that like saying Halo or Fable are junk just because they are on the original Xbox? I love busting out my FFVII or Raw Is War and I can do that because the PS3 is backwards compatible. Or Madden 04, why? Because I know all the tips and tricks to it and I love the roster on it. Dante and Moss still on the Vikings? Alright! Get a Madden 04 near a 360? Prepare to spend another 500 dollars on a new 360...

Just look at the trends. Who did Sony back back in the VHS / BetaMax days? Which system had a major price drop right before the fateful holidays? Which system did the porn industry back? Which was a better system? And finally, ever hear of Laser Disk? They actually still put movies on those things.

Besides are you arguing that HDDVD is sucking because they have less titles? AND arguing that PS3 is better then the 360... That's rich! Lets see glass houses, and irony, phys heal theyself, etc. I can't get over how bad your argument is!

See it doesn't matter which is better or who backs whom... Just how many units get into homes fastest. And, from what I hear HDDVD is going on sell Friday with units starting as low as $100. I paid more then that for my last DVD player!

If you can wrap your head around "more in homes fastest" you'll also see why PS3 is struggling so hard in the states. It's nothing to get worked up about though. It'll all be ok.

360=about a hundred, maybe a little less.

Also, not a Sony fan boy, own an original Xbox. But in the new gen the PS3 blows the 360 out of the water. 360 to PS3 is like a 64 compared to a PS2. More games, more High Def movies. Also a 360 Pro costs 500, a PS3 cots 399.

Also, Blu Ray players also getting a drop for Black Friday. Do you know what Black Friday is? I doubt it. That is why the HDDVD players are also getting a price drop. That is why everything is going on sale. Do you not notice this? Black Friday comes and everything gets a price drop. Well, except for the 360 Pro, that price went up to cost more then a PS3. WHich has more games, power, options, movies, more of everything.

Whatever. You're counting all PS1 and PS2 games. I don't want to drop good money on a system for games I could play on my phone!

Seriously for someone just getting into it I think that 360 is better. It offers more games (all next gen) has a ton of exclusive game titles. Honestly I buy games for the 360 over the PS3 and only have the PS3 for exclusive PS titles (and BluRay of course).

Here's more ammo for you: the 360 does not come with an HDDVD player, I think it's $180 more.

Still all told, if you don't have a collection of old games. The 360 has more to offer.

And I will bet you money come Friday I can find an HDDVD player cheaper then BluRay. That is what is going to drive the market. You're right about availability. Best Buy's website shows 388 HDDVD titles compaired to 450 BluRay... You think mom and pa are gonna fuss over 62 fewer movie selections? The cheaper system is gonna win period and if it's HDDVD then I think it'll be pretty easy to find something to watch with 388 titles available! You're just struggling to hold on to the usefulness of your PS3 and that's cool, just don't stear others wrong. I'm gonna have to buy an HDDVD player sometime too, I'll get over it.

It appears that a lot of the PS2 & Xbox generation are starting to jump ship for something different myself included, I like the 360 and will certainly be getting one most likely the Elite version, reason is most people I know have one, it has cool games, price (cheaper than a PS3) & I aint played a PS3 (I got no loyalties to Sony nor Microsoft, the Halo franchise etc).

So...

If I were to play a PS3 would any of you be confident that it would change my mind?

Well considering that Gametrailers top 10 PS3 games list only has 7 entries in the list(of which one is a 360 exclusive and the other is Superman 2 Blu-ray special cut). LMAO! A game console is nothing without the games.

Bah! There's defininately fun games and more on the way for the PS3.

I've been rocking Assassin's Creed, CoD4 (insane goodness) and Kane & Lynch (anyone see the movie Heat?). Hmmm, Lego Star Wars, Drakes Uncharted, ..., ...

I've seen price mentioned, but a Xbox Elite, wifi adapter, hd dvd player, extra controllers, and all the misc stuff will run you just as much as a PS3 when you're done.

Oh, did I mention I know 6 Xbox 360 owners and 5 of them have failures and had to send them in? They all got some refurb machine back? M$ is evil! I tells ya!

Assains creed and Cod are avalible for xbox 360
i played COD4 and finsihed that (and will agree that is a excellent game)

But the playstation 3 its self is just a giant door stand for now
also on price factor you get more for a 360 HD then a PS3 with HD
and now they are only doing well because Wii cant keep up with demand.


the majour games which are just for the PS3 are nothing compared to that of 360 games.

granted the PS3 has a good but slow web browser which it looks like its been ported from the PSP.

on the breakdown issue my xbox broke down
out of warrenty (has 3 years for lights)
so coverd for that got my console back within 2 weeks and with extra month live to cover the 2 weeks i lost.

also my warrenty is now renewed so i am back in warrenty.

Same thing happened with my PS2. I miss cartridges where if it was screwing up all you had to do was blow on it and it would work! Hopefully the improved nanoFlash technology(unannounced shh) will change this. Instant boots ftw! 50+ GB flash sticks booyaa!

Elite are also Limited edition, that is why it's expensive. The 360 Pro has HDMI IIRC and all you need to turn a regular 360 into a HD console is an adapter. You can buy an adapter(3rd party) to use it with a DVI port to boot. Can you do the same thing with a PS3? I'm asking because I don't know, it wasn't rhetorical. I'm more impressed with the PS3 now then I was when it first came out, but I think the mountain they have to climb may be a bit too much for them and by the time they get their act together my comp will be able to stomp the PS3.

Sony is a sinking ship(and just as evil as M$, remember the Rootkit scandle). If it weren't for how Kickass the PSP has become I would still be boycotting their asses. Of course I got a modded PSP but still.. lmao.

My personal choice still is the Wii60 combo. I gots a Wii already(waiting for No More Heroes atm) and I'm getting a 360 for Xmas.

I've never had ONE problem with my "refurbished" 360...

And now the 360 HD add on is going for the low low price of 120.00 US Dollars. How can you go wrong?

I'm sure you can by HD addons from 3rd parties for much less. I'm actually going for the DVI adapter addon so I can use my widescreen flat panel.

Anyways, did some shopping, got 5 BluRay movies for 82dollars and change. Looked at HD DvDs, the few I could find(WalMart had three sections for BR, half a section for HDDVD) and doing the math, before taxes, could get 5 for over a 110 dollars.

Also, I like spending 450(How much I paid for mine) once on a PS3 instead of having to spend 500 dollars for a 360 3-4 times then another 120 for an adapter...

360 has more RAM, a stronger graphics card, and a better built tri-core processor (believe it or not, three processors that can be reallocated to anything is better then 7 that are strictly for one thing and one thing only.)

A lot fewer games. 360 is only backwards compat with very very few reg xbox games. Why I never got one. I don't want to buy one just to find out my fav games don't work. So will stick with a PS3 and original xbox for now.

Xbox is backwards compatible with over 253 games, which is the bulk of the selection of xbox titles. The most readily available PS3 system out there, the one at 400.00 dollars, has no backwards compatibility. Which means unless you pay for the 500 dollar PS3, you don't get backwards compatibility on it. At all. Most > none.

You listed one game thats also on the 360, and apparently runs better and looks better on the ps3, and you also list a game thats not even out yet. If I do that with the 360, not including cross-platform titles, it simply dwarves your list, in both quantity and quality.

You don't have to pay a SINGLE DIME to download demos on the 360. You only have to pay 4 dollars a month to play games online, in a giant, interconnected system that integrates streaming videos, live webchat, constant achievement tracking, friends of friends myspace interconnectivity and even MSN messenger. 4 bucks gives you instant communication, friend tracking, and anti-cheating tools to prevent people from hacking, cheating, or griefing others.

The closest PSN will even have of all those features is HOME, which is nothing more then a chatroom for people to cyber in.

If I want a high def dvd player, I'd buy a high def player. Only a fraction of the country is even capable of using one. The majority of people buying game systems are looking to buy it for quality games, not to watch movies.
