9/10, It's pretty nice

If anyone is wondering, I'm intending to use this set of Avatars until after 6th June. For those who don't know, that will be 63 years after D-Day.

After that, I'll put it back to the more fun set.

A bit to colourful for my tastes, and I'm not sure what the bottom word says.

It's M32, on it's side.
What do you mean, "too" colorful. Sheesh, I was tired of bland looking avatars.

It would be really good if you got the bottom right corner to blend more.

Still a bit choppy, but better than the previous one of yours that I rated. (the mini me one)

Don't know what program you are using, but look for an option called "anti-aliasing".

make sure that the "anti-alias" option is checked. Otherwise your selection will be copied using exact pixels, with no dithering effect. (that is why it looks "choppy" - the pixels go right from dark to light, or vice versa) Checking that option, basically makes the edges partially transparent, and when you paste the copied portion, it will blend better with the image you are pasting onto. (makes the transition look smoother)

As an experiment, take a look at a real digital photograph that has highly contrasting elements. Zoom in to look at the transition between a light and a dark object in the image. Notice that the transition line between the two is smooth, and that they fade into each other at the pixel level, rather than jumping from light to dark, or vice versa. (there is not a black pixel the next to it a white pixel, for example. But increasing shades of grey, to make up the transition. How many depends on the resolution of the image.)

edit to add:

You can also do it manually, to an existing flattened image if your editor has a "blur" tool. I have done that on occasion. Choose the blur tool, set the size to 1 or 2 pixels. At the jagged, or sharp edges, use the blur tool. Not neccesary to use it where the light and dark area is not too dissimilar. Zoom in to see the actual pixels, blur a small test portion. then zoom out to actual size, to check the results. If not happy, undo the blur. If your blur tool allows for adjustment, now would be the time to determine if you need less blur. I'm going to do that avatar using this method, to show you what I mean....

(will insert here, when finished)

Okay, I smoothed your image a bit, but used a slightly defferent approach than I described above. I made two layers of your image. On the top layer, I removed the upper and lower text. (wanted to keep just the majority of the skeleton.) Than I blured that layer, with a blur setting of 0.3. Than I flattend the image, and worked on only the lower text elements that looked choppy using the method described above. Did nothing to the upper text.

Just a little food for thought.

7/10, but I give you an "A" for effort.

edit for clarity and add image
