Hi all,

Sorry was not sure if I put this in the right place.

I thought I would share this photo I got from a friend. It was supposedly taken at Niagra Falls in 1911. From the looks of it thats pretty cold. How long and how cold would it have to be for this to happen.

Do any of you have any opinions or similar photos?

thats a cool pic. a long time ago a ice damn made the first bridge at niagra falls falldown.
that does look like it must have been cold for some time thow.

The Rainbow Bridge was built near the site of the earlier Honeymoon Bridge, also called the Falls View Bridge or officially the Upper Steel Arch Bridge, which had collapsed on January 27, 1938, due to an ice jam in the river.

Wouldn't it really suck if you were standing there and out of nowhere the block of ice you were on broke away and started moving towards the edge?

Anyways, back on topic. That's a really cool picture. I didn't know Niagra Falls had ever been frozen. It must have been ridiculously cold for that to happen. Thanks for posting this.

Great picture - it does happen occasionally although I think that they have done some work to stop ice build up.

This is from 1936

and there's more photographs here
