How to create Avatar with multiple pictures?

Topic started on 25-11-2006 @ 11:17 AM by Diseria

I've seen avatars that go from one picture to the next -- is that all the same picture with multiple frames? Or, is there a code to get it to switch from one jpg to the next?

I'm trying to take a comic strip, that is currently 3 pictures (correct size, all 3 are 52k) -- but, I'm unsure how to go from the first panel, to the second, to the third..

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Are you talking of .Gif Animations?

.Jpg's are still pictures while .Gif's are small animations.

Here is a .Gif Animation by Semperfortis.

He's quite talented, maybe you could u2u him and ask for some help.

Also, if you are looking just to create a simple animated gif with three frames, you can do it in Photoshop with the help of ImageReady. Just think of frames in terms of layers.

Semper has gotten really good with his animations though, so I think he would be the one to ask.

Most of the avvys you see switching from pic to pic are hosted on an avatar rotating site. There are several of them out there and most are free. I can't think of the names off hand but give me a moment to find them...

Here is one: Random Image

But if you don't like that one just do a google search on Avatar hosting.

Not quite an animation... might be interesting if it *could* be animated, but alls I'm looking for is to switch between the 3 panels of the comic strip.. endless rotation.

So, I shall try the avatar rotating site.. maybe that'll work. (I'll let you know if I can get it to work or not..)

Thank you guys!

I think you are talking about an animated GIF, you want the images to change while the page is loaded, not just everytime it's reloaded, right?

If that's what you mean, you do need to use Photoshop w/ImageReady (or something else that can create these).

If you don't have access to such a program, I'm sure if you post the pictures you want to use, someone here will help you create it.

Indeed...

I guess I have to widen my definition of 'animated' then.

And indeed, if someone has ready access to said programs, and has the time available, I'd most appreciate their help.

First Panel

Second Panel

Third Panel

They should be sized appropriately...

*cheers*

That's awesome!!!
and the added colors are a nice touch..

Thank you so very very much!! (arguably much easier than maggie dancing.. teehee!)

Now, the question becomes - how to make it my avatar? 'copy image location'?

oh nevermind... my brain just woke up.
save the image, upload it to ats, and copy the url..

Yeah, the maggie vid was too big, long to ever get it within the filesize limits.

Cheers

GIF Construction Set Professional:

www.mindworkshop.com...

I have used it for several of my avatars. I find it very user friendly.
