A Blind Teenager Uses Echoes, Smell, and Hearing to detect
objects around Him!

He can:
- Roller Skate Skate on the street
- Play Video Games
- Beat the anchorman on a fooseball match

His method has been compared to dolphins

Truly amazing!

No kidding amazing!

GREAT find.

I encourage people to watch the video - this kid makes clicking sounds, and uses echolocation to navigate, identify objects, everything.

wow

At first when watching this I was wondering how they knew if he was really blind. Then they bring up that his eyes were removed. Guess that eliminates the doubt. By watching him you'd never know he was completely blind.

I was skeptical at first too, thinking it must some kind of trick or something, but apparently not. Echolocation has been described as occuring in some blind people for a long time.

I guess you learn something new everyday! Good find btw

I highly doubt he can play Videogames with any amount of skill by ecolocation. Sofi said he made clicking sounds or something and in a Videogame such a thing would be impossible to do. The only way I could see that working is if he has some crazy surround sound system at home. Could only play first person shooters as well.

For those who missed it, please check out Gear's thread. He did a lot of great research on animal and human echolocation.

VERY cool stuff!

Thanks Gear.

Hey - these things do happen.

My thanks to a1ex - I would never have found this topic if it hadn't been on the main board.
