In a discovery that highlights the promise of stem cell research,
researchers say a "master" embryonic cardiac stem cell is able
to produce all three types of cardiac tissue.

In experiments using mice, the Harvard University team was
able to produce cardiac muscle, smooth muscle and "pacemaker"
cardiac cells.

"This is the beginning of unlocking the scientific and therapeutic
potential of human embryonic stem cells," said the lead author
of the first report, Dr. Kenneth R. Chien of the Harvard Stem Cell
Institute.

According to experts, that potential includes the ability, someday,
to repair hearts by growing new cardiac tissue from stem cells.
Embryonic stems cells are unique in that they have the ability to
develop into any type of cell.

This is great news.

If research can continue on the rate it has been, or hopefully
even faster, than in a few decades we could advance in medical
science a great deal.

I agree with the research. It has a pontential that I think the general public hasn't yet grasped. They see what they think are negatives, but let them get in a position to need a cure from this type of research. I think tunes will slowly change.

Just my 2 cent,

Nice find, Iori, this is fascinating and wonderful news. I'd really like to see more stem cell research done, I think it's potential would be amazing.
