I seem to recall this being a "rumor" but it would seem its coming to light...again. Normally i would overlook this, but with the stretched thin troops in the middle east, and recruitment being extremely low, this seems different. In happened once,it can happen again.SHould this come to pass, ill not be participating, draft card or otherwise.

(CBSNews.com)-The U.S. needs to reinstate the draft to confront new challenges while also fighting in Iraq, Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) said on Face The Nation. But Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said, "We can do this with an all-voluntary service." www.cbsnews.com...

Rep. Charles Rangel, (D-N.Y.), appearing on CBS's Face the Nation, renewed his call for a return to the military draft, saying that the U.S.'s needs on the ground in hotspots like Iraq, Iran and North Korea can not be met with current troop levels. (CBS)www.cbsnews.com...

At a time when some lawmakers are urging the military to send more troops to Iraq, "I don't see how anyone can support the war and not support the draft," he told Bob Schieffer. www.cbsnews.com...

Rangel, incoming chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, said he worried the military was being strained by its overseas commitments.

"If we're going to challenge Iran and challenge North Korea and then, as some people have asked, to send more troops to Iraq, we can't do that without a draft," Rangel said. www.cbsnews.com...

He said having a draft would not necessarily mean everyone called to duty would have to serve in uniform. Instead, "young people (would) commit themselves to a couple of years in service to this great republic, whether it's our seaports, our airports, in schools, in hospitals," with a promise of educational benefits at the end of service. www.cbsnews.com...

Thanks for the post Black_Fox, but there is an existing thread on this topic.

Military & Security Issues ยป Democrats control Congress and they want the Draft.

Additional thoughts, comments or opinions should be posted there.

Thank you.
