Hmm this sounds a bit scary, would want to be the receiver of a swarm of these !!

Israel is using nanotechnology to try to create a robot no bigger than a hornet that would be able to chase, photograph and kill its targets, an Israeli newspaper reported.

Just as theyve said Wars are now won with technolgy .......

all sounds a bit scifi to me. Nanotechnology has created speculation of cloaks that make anything beneath it invisible.

and those super gloves sound a bit speculative too:

super gloves that would give the user the strength of a "bionic man"

The article claims that prototypes for the new weapons are expected within three years. We shall see.

sounds cool though.

After reading your thread statement, I was reminded of these verses in the end book of the bible.
Revelation 9

9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
9:3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
9:4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing,
9:5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

I,ve never found a more fitting phrase to sum up why I feel growing resentment for the Israeli ''Junta'' than this one.

"It's illogical to send a plane worth $100 million against a suicidal terrorist. So we are building futuristic weapons."
from O/P post..

Forget the humanitarian aspect of saving civillian lives on both sides of the conflict and removing the individuals instead of wiping out a street full of Kids..

It,s just ''illogical'' to risk their prized expensive weapons..
What price ignorance??

Ahem.. on topic..
This would be a fantastic development for accessing victims in confined areas after quakes/bombs etc to check for signs of life before hazardous rescues as well as sending one down ''OBL,s cave network''(assuming of course he,s not as fictional as Buck Rogers)
