At the request of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), Subcommittee on Nanoscale Science, Engineering and Technology (NSET), the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Department of Commerce (DOC) organized a workshop on December 3- 4, 2001. This report incorporates the views expressed at the workshop of leading experts from government, academia, and private sector, and detailed in contributions submitted thereafter by members of the U. S. science and engineering community.

The contribution of all participants in this study in developing a coherent vision for converging Technologies for improving Human Performance is acknowledged. Acutally, the Nazi scientists practiced eugenics (breeding genius soldiers) during WWII. My late father-in-law met one. He said the guy was "scary" -- tall, blonde, and extremely intelligent. Put a gun in that guy's hands and stuff him full of ideology and you'd have a soldier who could outthink and outshoot most of the people on the planet.

Yep, big differences between 'borging, eugentics & gengineering...To tell the truth, a gengineered covert op would be the most scary of the possibilities:

A 'borg could be detected with a simple metal detector, eugenic-types can be watched to observe certain body-types...But sophisticated gengineering could have traits similar to or surpassing those of a eugenically-bred person & keep it subtle enough to avoid notice.

Well, middle-east is full of peoples like them. There are not tall & blonde, but don't give them a gun !
