was the door fully shut where one would have to turn the handle to open it? If not it could have been air displacement. I think because the furnace
was on you were generating a convection current, where cold air spills into the less dense warm air forming in the house by the heater.
Same effect happens on a smaller scale near windows in the winter. If it's cold enough you can feel a cold draft throught the closed window due to
the small convection current cell infront of the window.
They can push doors around quite abit.
Otherwise i would have to say that you got yourself a case of an entity that seems to attack homes in the New England area but has been reported all
over. They had a special on it a year back on the Learning Channel. The specter or poltergiste would begin with small things like opening doors, it
then progressed onto bolder acts (lights etc.) finally the residents all reported seeing actual apperitions-they preffered to appear when they person
was alone and at night time. the sudden cold and temperature drop would be the precurrsor to when they would appear usually from down a hall or from
around a corner then travelling strait towords the person until the apperition would disapear. The events cumulated into episodes of the homeowners
feeling like they were getting strangled or like something wanted to strangle them, some even reported sudden jolts through the body as if something
was trying to slash at them.
The events got worse until they residents moved out. New residents would report sometimes nothing, or events but not as bad as the previous tenets.
The spirit seemed to go easier on some and be more interested in others...sometimes even nasty and hostile. Sometimes throwing small objects around
the room at night that would crash against walls. You might want to call a specialist...
NOT! I made all that up...you have air displacement. Not to worry.
