I'm 21, on my own, working to pay my apartment, car insurance, and basic living expenses plus some things that arent really necessary but I work so I can have. I am putting myself through college(loans I have to start paying 6 months after I graduate, which will be next december
. I am currently waiting tables and am able to pay for all of this. I dont get taxed all that much for your average middle-class American. The tax cuts may have made this possible thought I'm not completely sure.

On a side note I get all my taxes back in April because I'm a student

Actually you don't get tax that much, no because you are a middle class American but because your income bracket falls below what is allow for your income.

Right now the middle class bracket is between 55,000 thousand to 120,000 thousand.

When you get to make that much in the future you will see how taxes will hit you.

But for now you are OK.

Americans in lowest 20% personal income: Got an average tax break of $23

Which is WHAT percentage of their Income?
Proof of your $23 figure anywhere?

Americans in the middle 20%: Got an average tax break of $748

Again, what percent of their total income?
Again, where is the supporting link of your $748 figure?

Americans in the top 1%: Got an average tax break of $39,000 and....

See above

Americans making more than $10 million per year got an average tax break of $500,000

See above

source: "Bad President" by R.D. Rosen, Harry Prichett and Rob Battles

So your basing an entire economic foundational premise, on the "Book" written by WHO? Never heard of them. Again, where is the substantiating evidence to support this book? I read the Wizard of OZ too, but don't believe in witches.

And the top top wage earners, got a big enough tax break to buy a house in the Hamptons.

When did you buy a house in the Hamptons for 500K? I'll double your money tomorrow if you will sell.

This post seems to be forgetting one thing...

The Principle of Percentages.

The more you make, the more the tax cuts. How could it have been done any differently? Just give some of the "better off's" money to the poor? WAIT, That is socialism isn't it?

Or how about we just tax the people willing to get off their collective bums, work hard and finally make some money? Sure why not? Now that is an incentive to work hard. Let me see if I have this straight... (Re-reading your post) Yep, I got it. You want every hard working, successful person in America to pay for the ones not willing to work hard and become successful. hmmmmm Is that socialism? Well not quite, more like quasi-socialism.

Percentages my good people. More you make, the more you save.

Anything else and your redistributing wealth. That has been tried. Cuba, USSR, etc. Didn't work there, but keep on keepin on and you will get your way. Then we can all live in your little socialist/communist Un-united States.

Oh yeah, I forget.

You all also complain about not having good paying jobs... HMMMM Lets see....

Under your plan, we are going to tax the people that run the large corporations where there are high paying jobs, (Where else would they be?) then when you have taxed them so much to pay for those that choose not to work, they slow or stop production and, POOF!!! There go your jobs....

Now it just can't work any other way. In order for ANY company to have higher paying jobs available... They must be a successful company,,,, Correct?

If they are a successful company, they are making money.... No other way to evaluate it...

If they are making money, you want to tax them substantially more. Thereby taking away some of their profits... Thereby making them less successful.... Thereby making them incapable of offering higher paying jobs..... There by making more poor people for the big people to support, but only for awhile, because they are paying higher taxes because of you.. soon the middle people, who are now the big people because you taxed the original big people out of business, have to stop paying higher wages in order to pay the taxes they now have to pay because they are now the big people.

Well, there you have it....

In one single post, you have just destroyed the United States and created a Socialist Government....

Now, for your next project....

Name a successful Socialist Government...

I did no such thing friend...it appears that is what you have done. This country was destroyed in 1913 with the introduction of the FED and then the introduction of income tax.

I did work out the percentages in this thread and they don't jive. The high wage earners get a 5% break while the lower wage earners get a .15 or less% break. So how does that work out to be even to you? Are you like the other poster who was trying to teach me Economics 101 which teaches that .15% = 5%? Is this what you are rambling on about? Because if you want to teach me something, teach me something that makes sense....and maybe read the whole thread (which isn't very long and shouldn't take you too long).

And I have to laugh. I supply my source for the information and you want ANOTHER source to corroborate the information from my source? If you want that...go ahead and get it....don't ask me to do your work for you. I supplied information and the source, which is what is required of me. You want more....YOU GO GET IT!

The whole income tax idea is a scam in this country anyway. Income tax was created right after the FED. According to the constitution, income tax is illegal. But, since we little people don't have the power to keep our government from stealing from us, we can at least challenge the way we are robbed. I'm in the middle class. I got about a .08% tax break while the mega-rich got a 5% break. I don't have a right to challenge that?

We're not heading toward Socialism in this country friend...try Fascism! This country is run by the mega-rich. It is run by the FED and its international banking cabals. They would never allow for Socialism. Are you kidding? And when I no longer have the right to challenge my government and to challenge authority, I guess that will be when Fascism is fully in place. Then George W. Bush or any other idiot that stands in his place can take me out and have me shot!

On this part of your post I will have to agree with you.
