From some of the posts on here you could easily think most of the posters are teenage boys lurking in their bedrooms doing air guitar to 'Perm' Heavy Rock.

Tell me it aint so.

Anyone else a fan of the late great Sandy Denny?

I've only recently got back into folk / folk-rock and discovered Sandy. Listening to her now I can't understand why she isn't an immortal to more than a dedicated few. When you consider her talents and relative obscurity compared to, say, Nick Drake it makes no sense at all.

Didn't expect to see a Sandy Denny thread on here!

Farewell Farewell must be one of the best songs of all time, ever!

Cheers Mate

You've restored my faith in ATS!

TBH I think her song-writing is much underrated, The Northstar Grassman, Solo, Who Knows Where the Time Goes, No More Sad Refrains, The Pond and the Stream, etc etc - Farewell, Farewell is actually a Richard Thompson Song but she does sing it beautifully

"She's been namechecked by some high-profile people," considers Ashley Hutchings. "But she needs to be re-evaluated. She wrote a kind of song that's very rarely written now - emotional, musically interesting, sung really well - serious songwriting. She was head and shoulders above the rest. And she remains so."

This is also a good site listing her stuff ectoguide.org...
