So we had the fall of the great USSR, now we just have China, North Korea, Vietnam and Cuba left as Communist countries. All signs indicate that Communism, on a global scale, is on the way out. Then I came across this site www.cpusa.org... where you can actually join the Communist Party of the USA. Now what ramifications might be involved with an American born citizen joining the Communist Party I don't know...Passport limitations? Visa denial to other countries? Certainly never working in any governmental job and perhaps even being monitored by the government. In any case I find it fascinating that they are here as a party and imply they have large numbers. Do they honestly think Communism ever has a chance of happening in America? Now I will grant that America is very, very young (being only a little over 200 years old) compared to the rest of the world and anything is possible. I also find it rather amusing that their motto is "People Before Profits" and they have an online shop selling merchandise and saying "Shop 'til Capitalism Drops." So what are some of your thoughts on this, especially if we have anyone who has lived in the former USSR or other Communist countries.

I don't dare to click the link. I'm pretty sure it would start a chain reaction in my pc with a warning message as : " Total destruction in 10 seconds. Minimal safety point to reach is 1000 miles. Have a nice day. 9....8....7....6.....

P.S : And I don't think that chosing between communism or nazism/fachism is a choice. In both case, we're all screwed up.

I know that people who join communist parties in other countries are often denied entry to the USA, not just to work, but to take a holiday.

Communist parties exist everywhere. It is a system which appeals to working people all over the world, aswell as political thinkers. It's nice to see some political diversity coming from the US. It is quite strange however, that the CPUSA has survived through all the paranoia and persecution.

Do you think the government would shut them down if they had the chance? It seems that they allow them to operate so as not to appear undemocratic.

UP, would you rather live in Nazi Germany or communist Cuba? Given that in a Facist state you could be murdered for being racially "impure". I can see why neither system would be desirable to you, but I think you are insulting those who suffered under Fascism. Communism, as long as the power held within the system is not abused, is beneficial to the average person. Fascism's purpose is to allow one specific group to prosper at the expense of others, namely scapegoats like the Jews.
