The good intentions of the democrats have scarred the American landscape for decades to come.

It began with President Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” fiasco. The welfare programs that came from that have created a persistent circle of poverty and crime around the necks of every large American city.

Government housing that came from that legislation intensified crime near the city cores, causing business and others to flee for higher ground.

Welfare instead of helping the poor made them less willing to be creative and productive.

Those businesses that remained and tried to tough it out went broke, people that had all their money tied to the equity in their homes lost everything as public housing encroached on solid neighborhoods and turned them into slums.

No war in history has done more damage in the range that has been done to American cities by the Democrat’s “Great Society” failure.

That cancer of poverty and crime from those mistakes continues to grow to this day.

No one on the democratic or the left will admit to any this statement.

I find that the democrats are no better than the republicans in my way of looking at the politcal landscape in the US.

But the Democratic party has not Offered me ONE solution to what i consider important, they only spout the anti-republican/anti-conservative message at every turn.

I am glad that I am a Independent voter now... I feel that the issues should be based on whats good for the country.. Not the US vs THem mentality!

Had the republicans done a fraction of the damage to the American economy that dems have done there would be no republican party.

The democrats have a much better propaganda machine in place, blame every evil in the world on the rich and on corporations and the flock will follow you off the cliff like the Pied Piper.

What no rebuttals? Surely there are democrats that can come to the defiance of Lyndon Johnson's "great society" experiment. I mean look how many generations have been affected and how many more will suffer as that ring continues to expand like a virus.

The more I think about this, I think it may be a good thing. I doubt the Democrats are going to keep control of the legislative branch for long, Bush still has his veto power, and the Republicans have been taught a lesson to keep to their core values that they have seemed to abandon over the past few years.

Remember 2008 is only 2 years away!

The democrats own Hollywood, and televisions are in every home, so the democrats get the leftwing message out 24/7. America is becoming a land of minorities, which tend to vote democrat, and republicans have been effectively demonized by the elitist. Rome fell from within because of similar conditions. America will not fall but it will become more like Canada---socialistic, and more like over-taxed Mexico, less productive and less prosperous. Once the sheep are made to believe they rule the world, the wolves will feast in leisure.

Now on a brighter note, the ones who will pay the price are the ones that have brought it on to themselves, that's the way it's always been regardless which political party rules the day.

There will always be people that live well and people that don't, a vote will not change that.

You brought up a 3 year old thread to argue someone who hasn't posted on ATS in over a year?

The other posters haven't posted in 2-3 years.

Ita amazing however....to look BACK on this older thread with the state of the union as it is today.
MAYBE Sleeper is a 'political psychic' after all?

He made very VALID points, that cause me to compare them to what is going on now.....and it sure as heck makes me go "hmmmmmmm"

I miss Sleeper and his amazing HUGE thread about ETs

I just found it odd to ressurect a 3 year old thread and to reply to people who haven't been active from 1-3 years.

I'm sure sleeper was a swell guy.

Oh I hear you LOUD & CLEAR about bringing up old threads.....BUT sometimes folks are looking at the content of a thread and missing the dates.
Newer members are more likely to do this than the old ones who already saw the threads back when they were NOT old....haha
So MUCH info is already on ATS that a person can spend a huge amount of time learning things from past discussions without starting some 'new thread' on a subject that was hashed out and gone over with a fine tooth comb in the yonder years. Personally I am GLAD when someone brings something from the past back into the light, instead of making a new thread on the same subject......as it adds richness to the older thread by breathing some new life into it.

It is the rich a powerfull that control this country. There is no dem or rep. The ultiment power is with the corparations. Not everyone knows this but the Fed Bank is a privitl;y own bank. The government has to ask for money from them. Only now with in the last 3-5 yrs are the people finally waking up to this. We have been given just enough "freedom" to make us believe that we are free. Think of it like a child that is only allowed to look out a window for years if you finally let him step foot outside but put a ton of restrictions on him he thinks he's free but he is not really free.

What freedom I have never seen freedom. I feel like a stinking hamster on a wheel that has to continue running just to live. You can pay everything off and guess what You still have to continue running. Hell You used to be able to retire in this country but now that is not an option. The only two groups that know any freedom in this country are the welfare pukes that oppress the middle class and the super rich that also oppress the middle class......
