You may have felt scared and hungry because you completely freaked yourself out, while being concerned about the pressure build up and other odd
sensation going on in your head your adrenaline most likely started ramping up pretty high.
When you came out of it, your adrenaline dropped...I know when I come down off a huge adrenaline rush I get very hungry.
And as mentioned before you were scared cuz you freaked yourself out.
I would like to say that while in search of the spiritual don't ignore the physical. If you feel pressure continue to build up in your head see your
family doctor immediately.
No I wasn't joking.

You may also want to look into books about the above as well as chakra balancing, empowering and meditation excercises that can be used in conjunction
with the chakras.
Also creative visualization is the key when working with chakras and meditation and magick in general so you may want to look into excercises that can
help you with that.
On another spiritual note you could have jump started a kundalani experience which may or may not completley overload your system and by the way
totally freak your crap.
A kundalani excersise is slow and methodical and is supposed to work its way up from the root chakras upward over time.
Though you can have a massive kundalani experience which feels more like a thunderbolt than a slow build up of focused energy.
Anyhoo, I would suggest books and talking with others over pure internet research. These types of topics lend themselves well to the printed page.
