If the US economy is so strong, where are all of the good jobs at?

I'm a recent college grad looking for a solid job off of which I can build up my resume and myself, where should I be looking for such opportunities besides monster.com? I can't seem to find any job in my hometown that pays more than 8 bucks an hour, I live in Stockton California and any help would be appreciated!!

Put in your resume with corporations that accept them online an be prepared to move if you are lucky enough to get a job.
Try everything from manufactorers to insurane companies to non-profits that cross your mind and google for their sites.
