How about for the Thanksgiving competition we just leave it as is,
but try making it where you have to create your own avatar for
the Christmas contest.

That way we can see which is better and/or more fair.

I like the idea of allowing people to submit avatars made by other people. Normally the person who has the avatar tells the artist what they would like and then the artist makes their avatar as they think the person wants it. It's not like the artist had the idea,,,,,
The idea of designing the avatar is what gives the artist the inspiration to create it. Without the idea, the avatar wouldn't exist.

BTW, zooplancton Your avatar rocks!
I love it !

Well, it would appear I am, as usual, in the minority.
Oh well.

Hmm, you know, I just thought of something, am I allowed
to make suggestions on how to improve avatars?

I didn't make this avatar.

I just thought it was cute.

Here's my entry for the contest. I made it myself.

Sorry it appears slightly washed out, the file size simply wouldn't go down enough without some serious loss of color.

Anyway, ummm... here it is.

Hopefully someone besides me thinks it's funny.

TL,

Very nice work....

The "washed out" look actually adds to the overall character of the image in my opinion....

Hi all, here's my entry.....

(credit to comstock for their image, and yes, it was paid for many moons ago.)

thelibra, I like the grainy look, it gives it that 'authentic' feel. ( An invasion of yummy turkey-aliens !!?? They don't stand a chance......where's my cranberry cannon!?)

Thanks y'all. Makes me feel better then.

I sure had fun making the avi. Been looking to make a new one for a while. Pity the Thanksgiving one is only appropriate for like... a month or so.

Just thought I'd add my little thanks...even though I'm not American (Canada has already celebrated our own Thanksgiving)

Hee hee hee

(ps it's not really an avatar but I did post it on my blog for all the American's celebrating this glorious holiday....I suppose it could be shrunk a bit and used as an avatar...)

Hello everyone!

Here is my entry for the contest.

For that to be your entry, you will have to shrink it down to
avatar size and actually use it.

Maximum avatar size is 160 width and 320 height, thats in
pixels.

Thanks Iori, I'm not sure if anyone can still see it in my avatar though. I can't

I used www.shrinkpictures.com... and I selected 100 pixels since 350 was too big.

1Crisis, consider it submitted.

I had to adjust the text as shrinking it made it unreadable.

Chissler, can you clarify for us if we have to make our own avatars or not?

What are the rules now?

Thanks.

I'm going to say no, feel free to submit an avatar that another member has created for you.

Maybe for the next competition we will look at making it mandatory to create your own. Personally, I think things are top notch the way they are. We are seeing much better turn outs for these competitions than we did for the photo competitions where you turned in your own submissions. These competitions are involving a broader range of ATS members.
