I wasn't quite sure if this was exactly the right place to put this topic, but I was wondering...

What are the most common and well-known ways of killing a dragon in literature and such? I know dragons are a vast subject, what with all the different types of dragons in the world, but I'd like to find out what the most common ways of killing a dragon seem to recur.

Another issue: I have been poking around, and can't quite seem to find any lore at all about slaying Chinese dragons. This is especially interesting to me, as I'm write a little piece right now concerning these very dragons. Was there any way to trap them or kill them?

- Thanks for all the help

No. You cannot kill dragons. They are immortal. But they are nothing to fear - fiercesome, yes; fiery, yes; also they define fidelity.

A dragon is my best friend.

That definately depends on the world. Most fantasy worlds has mortal dragons.

Queenannie, umm, ignore my stupidity here, but are you talking about our world?
like where i am now?
And we dropped 2 bombs on the dragon(s)?
I've failed to have heard anything about this.

Well, that last part was actually a play on words - and an allusion to the two bombs dropped on Japan to put an end to WWII.

It's somewhat off topic, I guess - but then again, we are talking of dragons.

Are you calling the Japanese dragons? And in your other post about "IS REAL" I think it is pretty obvious that you refer to Israel and all of that...

...are you trying to get at something here?

Political humor just "kills" the dragon crowd. The younger dragon crowd finds edgier humor "to die for".

I use my trusty cast iron skillet.

It would seem that the best way to kill a dragon is to find a guy named George.
George's make the best dragonslayers.
I think that the Vatican would even back me up.....they made the last George that killed a dragon a saint.

But nowadays, the Georges and the Dragons are pals - loyal and true pals. It's because of the 1960's!

I once killed a dragon with a beer keg and a precisely placed fireball. No easy feat even for a Wizard of my caliber.

In the end he was tasty though. A bit like chicken.
