I've tried several firewall programs because I have cable modem always on.
Tiny Personal Firewall is ok.
ZoneAlarm is the most user friendly but has to be configured just right if you play games over the internet, of use P2P apps (who would do such a thing!!!???)

Norton does kind of suck. I have never been a big fan of any of their products.
I've even been using the built-in firewall in XP for the last few months on my laptop without any problems.

Firewall's will not mask your IP address. They will keep unwanted surfers out, and unwanted applications from reaching the internet. Always wise to have one when using broadband connections.

And yes, Zone Alarm is free and excellent. I have been using ZA for over 2 years without any problems. Much better than Black Ice Defender.

With Internet and any other privacy the only problem is who may know what.

Typical Internet user may know about you very little
Administrator of every interactive site may know many details
Administrator of message board site like ATS may have your full profile including the point of view

CIA can know everything to the very details even if your computer is not actually connected to the network

The only problem is if everyone may know everything

Don't worry about that script. It only echoes the info in your PC. No one else sees that. Here's the same script...

www.lord-ollie.net...

Just use a good firewall, and you're in good shape.

Now the Mods on this board on the other hand...

They can see your IP when you post.

And I'm sure they use this for slacker and hacker Id'ing.

But generally mods are a more professional lot.

Same thing, really. It does get those Moz based browsers incorrect sometimes.
