Ya know when I think back to my time in the military (Coast Guard, mid 70's) and some of the people I was stationed with I have to think that Kerry is onto something.

They ranged from simple blackguards (English slang for troublemakers) who either didn't know how to stay out of trouble or couldn't reason out the reprocussions of their actions. To this guy who flunked the 3rd class boson mate test (not exactly the SATS) 3 times and had to reup to get an advancement who later tried to force a bale of line down a scuttle by jumping up and down on it resulting in over 40 stitches to his chin after they both went through (true...I witnessed it) to a cook we had that God didn't give the brains he gave to a head of cabbage to the Lt. who plowed our ship (a 327ft. C.G. Cutter) head on into a garbage scowl to the guys at another base who broke into a locker that held 20 bales of pot from a bust, stole 6 of them and replaced they with bales of straw done up to look like the bales of pot. They would have gotten away with it too except that they took "photos of our heist" while they were doing it then took the film to the commissary to get it developed. Then there was the Jesus freak I had as a roommate at my last station in Washington state who played Pat Boone day and night and couldn't understand why I smashed his stereo into itty bitty pieces and threatened to force feed the remains to him.

Yep....Kerry is onto something.

Will New York Times be satisfcatory for yourself?

FACT is that the US military is better educated than it's civilian counterparts.

So why exactly, is the US Military enlisting CRIMINALS and HATE GROUPS, if they have full ranks of well educated, well payed individuals?

Why did you just stop on this Aljazeera thingy and not comment, how Hate Groups and Criminals are enlisted?

FACT is that Kerry has a long history of trashing the military.

I kare for mister Kerry as much I do for mister Bush.

They share two things I do not really like:
Both are Politicians;
Both are Scum&Boners.

FACT is that the dems want Kerry to disapear and for good reason.

Guess what? I don't give a flying poo for demokrauts either!

FACT is that HILLARY is going to be president in 2008 and Kerry's ego can't believe it.

Yeah right!

You really think Hillary is going to win?

Really? An exact quote you say? Try this then:

Speaking to students at Pasadena City College, Democrat Kerry said Monday, "You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well, and if you don’t you get stuck in Iraq.”

Exact you say? Anything here about being stupid? Anything in here about 'going in the military'? No there isn't. You are inferring these things. And like everyone else doing the same you are twisting the issue to fit your agenda. Kerry misspoke. But as an earlier poster clearly pointed out, if you read the transcript of his speech both before and after this statement you'll clearly see he was bashing Bush. I could care less about Sen Kerry. What I do care about is that people here on ATS deny ignorance... not promote it. If you want to cite 'exact quotes' FF, cite exact quotes.

Neither Bush or Kerry will be for president in 2008, one already did the job he was set to do and the other one is not going to make it.

Meanwhile our soldiers will die in Iraq and will keep dying, while we sit here and type over and over and joke about their tricks.

We are the poppets.

The joke is not on Bush and neither on Kerry, is on our soldiers and our nation.

Pity.

Bush bashing may it be...but it looks like he decided to apologize to the troops cause he KNOWS how his words would affect the soldiers and their families. And ironically, he said something a little different just yesterday in response to his words on education and military...

news.yahoo.com...

On Wednesday, he said, "You cannot get into the military today if you do badly in school." But he also said the White House was purposely twisting his words and asserted that it is Bush who owes troops an apology for a misguided war in Iraq.

Wow...thats all I can say.

Shame you have to get shot at to get a college degree. It says something about our culture. It hinders mobility between the classes. It says a lot about the capatalist system. Untempered capatalism encourages a concentration of wealth amongst those already rich, and keeps poor people down. There were attempts after the war to redress this, but recently it's being reveresed. It's the same thing in the UK with the new payment system of education.

All this is evident. What amazes me is that so many Americans don't see this. They continue to hiss 'liberal' and 'socialist' like they are dirty words. Have they been dumbed down? Have they been conditioned to such an extent that they defend the very system that keeps them down? Why are people so dumb?

And yes, soldiers are often stupid people. I used to get a train across Germany that would fill with squaddies. For the most part they were total idiots. The smart ones said nothing and kept away from the majority.

I just love how the science conspiracy has been covered since 1945.

Well it has.

From Nazi submarines off the American coast to 7,000 German scientists
moved to New Mexico. Its all covered by the History Channel these days,
or is it.

The cover media finally goofed when I saw a PBS program about Mongols
being defeated by the Turks. A volcano cause poor grass growth that
devastated the Mongol horse economy and did not affect the Turk's Cow
economy.

So I'm thinking now what is the American economy, is it oil.

Was it oil that was the cause of Nam, gee that was one theory.

Is it oil again that made oil rich countries rule our way of life and bomb
us to fear of their movements.

Back in the 70s we might have had a chance to change what happened in
the 90s. Smart or not, we better think of how to reduce the oil economy.

In 1972, as he ran for the House, he was less apologetic in his comments about the merits of a volunteer army. He declared in the questionnaire that he opposed the draft but considered a volunteer army "a greater anathema."

"I am convinced a volunteer army would be an army of the poor and the black and the brown," Kerry wrote. "We must not repeat the travesty of the inequities present during Vietnam. I also fear having a professional army that views the perpetuation of war crimes as simply 'doing its job.'

Not really. They are biased liars as well.

So why exactly, is the US Military enlisting CRIMINALS and HATE GROUPS,

IF that's true (and that's a big IF) you'd have to ask them. My guess is that if a person did a crime and did the time then they are not barred from enlisting in the military. They are free to do so. If people from a hate group have the proper education and behave themselves while in the military, then there is no reason why they can't be in. I may not like whatever group they align themselves with, but as long as they have the education and behave properly under UCMJ then they are allowed in the military.

I kare for mister Kerry as much I do for mister Bush. I don't give a flying poo for demokrauts either!

I know. You hate all American politicians equally. You are an equal opportunity hater.

Yes.

Of course there is. The opposite of smart is stupid .. and why else would someone be stuck in Iraq unless they were in the military and assigned there? The meaning was very clear. VERY clear.

Kerry misspoke.

Kerry said exactly what he felt and thinks. He didn't misspeak. He has a long history of saying such evil things about our military personnel. This is just one more in a long history.

you'll clearly see he was bashing Bush.

Wrong. It is clear that he's bashing the troops - as he always does.

So this is what the right is going to use to shield it's November running officials with? A idiot that's not even up for election? So let me get this straight the right has Kerry and the left has Foley and "the war on terror"...I want to know who is asking questions about why we are passing port security bills that have a write on added about illegal internet gambling? Oh these type issues aren't important enough to get all bent outta shape about! We'd rather spend our time throwing turds at each other instead of taking on the issues that matter. Instead we just want to stick our collective head in the sand untill after the elections and we have pissed away another chance to get these morons outta office who have no life but to make mine and yours harder to live by introducing stupid laws that we can live without.

Mr. Kerry said, "if you study, if you do your homework, if you make an effort to
be smart, you "CAN" do well, and if you don't you end up in Iraq."

If you don't do well you end up in Iraq? He's got a very good point there.

The trouble is most people don't like to hear the truth. The present administration
has taken his mis-spoken words and they're running with it. Why? Because their
policies have become unpopular and they need to beat back the rising tide of
"enough-is-enough". Whew, they're so glad Kerry dissed the troops aren't they?
Now the heat is off them for awhile. But did Kerry dis the troops? No he didn't.

Kerry supports our troops and understands them far better than Mr. Bush ever will.

Do we have to ask ourselves how far we've come or where are we heading when
we see how nasty Mr. Kerry is being treated? Being anti-Bush means you're
automatically anti-troops? I don't think so. And since when is being anti-war a bad
thing? Do we have to do war everytime Mr. Bush gets a burr up his butt?
Wait a minute, did we invade a soverign country? Did we find WMD's?
How many tours do these troops have to pull to satisfy Mr. Bush? Two? Three?
Four? Five? Sooner or later your luck runs out people.

I would simply like to remind the Kerry bashers that Bush refuses to do the troops the honor of even acknowledging their ultimate sacrifice. He ignores the casualties as a matter of practice. For Bush, "Support the Troop" means Support the War regardless of the lies that put us there or the cost in destroyed human lives and treasure.

Check out Veterans for Peace. Unlike Dubya, they've been there and speak with knowledge and power.

Lets watch Kieth Olbermann interview a WAR VET ATTACKED by none other than your great SENATOR GEORGE ALLEN (R)

It's a pathetic spin on a 'nothing' event and people continue to blather on and on about it. Can it hold till election day next week? We can only hope... Can they continue to spew the spin and try to convince people to vote based on such a pathetic non-event???

This is so sad... :shk: It's embarrassing, really.

Semper... bud... check your title. It's a blatant misrepresentation. Shame on ya.
