The Dead Sea is also an environmental disaster. Not one of those "maybe if" disasters that scientists argue about, but an undeniable one that is happening before our eyes. The Dead Sea, so called because it is so salty nothing can live in it, is drying up.

When I first stood by the shore 35 years ago you could toss a stone into the water. Standing at that same spot now the water's edge is over a kilometre away and every year it recedes further.

It has nothing to do with climate change or global warming. This disaster is entirely man-made.

I dont know what to say other then there might not be a dead sea within generation.
The worse thing is that due the political climate it looks like that nothing will be done to clean up and rehabilitate the River Jordan which feeds the Dead sea.
