"The other side of the Lynch story"

Only if you look closely at the buildings and see the clusters of bullets holes do you get a clue to what took place here on Sunday 23 March 2003.

It was along this road that the US army convoy carrying Jessica Lynch was ambushed. But a lot more happened that day, in a story that rarely gets told.

Because by the end of that Sunday, 29 American service men and women would be dead, the worst US losses of the Iraq war.

Looks like the whole Jessica Lynch story was used for other purposes too. The truth is so rarely heard in war.

I heard that the rescuing of her was pretty much a walk in the park because they had people showing them to her and they wasnt attacked at all because there was no Iraqi soliders there....but thats the version we had in our newspappers

On the news here, they reported that the doctor who treated her rang the US military and told them to come and get her.

Hey, I give Lynch a lot of credit - along with everyone else over there.
I'm not in the middle of a desert right now,
nor would I sign up to be.
(sand is not Banshee's friend. I'd much rather my combat be in either an urban[bar] or a squared-circle environment.)

Just keep in mind that none of this -- save the nekkid pictures -- is Lynch's fault. Her honesty in condemning the fuss more than compensates for her lack of hyooge-ness.
