The first game of this type ended up with over 300 referring websites.

This one has lass than 100, has been now running logner, and outside the ATS websites, there are no conspiracy-themed sites clicking in.

Maybe that's where we've gone wrong. I tended to post on other sites thinking the other players would take care of the conspiracy sites, if they've done the same that would probably explain the lack of interest.

it might also have something to do with the number of people playing this time. I played along with the last few games and there were more people involved in the game thread which leads me to believe there were more people actually playing along.

perhaps there are too many people awaiting the final rounds, figuring they'd let the rest of us do all the work and they would then make a go at it when the game was nearing the end.

Springer is probably to blame.

Yeah it's weird because I linked to more sites than I did in the other two. It may be the topic of the game draws an inherently smaller number of people? I mean that doesn't totally make sense but its the only thing I can think of to explain it. That or people are just like, oh look Z is posting another silly game link, I shan't click that again.

Just noticed a moderator I've never heard of, with a familiar name.

TheyreHere

Since most of us know this name from the game, thought this would be best place to ask if anyone has ever heard of this member/mod ?

He also has 0 posts.

And as you'll notice Skeptic is also on line.

Springer, my good man, it is always your fault. (SO is too close to me to blame him.)

I only spread for one thing.

Springer, if you were to allow porn sites, I could have this thing top out in the 1000 hit range by the end of the day.

Oh damn! I forgot that we won't supposed to put it there!

I, too, didn't go scouring for more conspiracy sites to put the link on because I figured everyone else had them taken care of. I think laziness, combined with that effect (forget the name ... groupthink maybe?) where everyone else thinks everyone else is doing stuff, combined with sneaky people who are skipping out on the referral stage, combined with less people playing overall led to this instance.

I like the referrals idea .... but maybe next game make it 10 referrals every 10 questions? Something along those lines to keep people with the short-term attention spans interested and the gaps in the game smaller.

there are other conspiracy sites? why the hell am I hanging out with you clowns then?

I linked us to two of them. hopefully we'll see referrals soon. It was armageddon something or another and conspiratorium101 I think.

Edit: looks like we got one from my link at conspiratorium101.com...

It's the only one showing new views and now we're showing (2)97/100 instead of (1)97/100.

But why didn't the 97 go up? What is the (2)?

Bah, it changed again, it went to (37)97/100 then just (37). I think the bottom text may have slightly changed too. Somebody save me from myself, I still don't get this crap. Are we ready to go again?

Appears to me like the game has been reset back to the starting point.

For me, anyway. I get (1), at the bottom of the page.

Oh, that's what the bloody number means. Dang, I thought we got a referral. I didn't click through the quicklinks and my computer doesn't keep the site, but somehow I got back to question 37. Making my attempts to gain referrals so far utterly fruitless apparently... unless that is why the 97/100 vanished.

Sponsored by AboveTopSecret.com, prizes from The Disinformation Company. (37)
chronology is no longer sequential
Refer period expired. Chronology is shuffled.

This isn't what it said before, at least I dont think. I think the bold part is new.

So how do we start?

Vagabond, did you see this post by AboveTopSecret? It seems the referral requirement may no longer be necessary.

It's going to take a little time to remove the referral requirements from the game code.

This should be complete by this evening, then there will be no future referral requirements for this game.

But it still would'nt hurt to try to get some more referrals, as it will increase the value of the domain.

If somebody would have told me that an hour ago I would have solved this riddle by now.

But no posts show up, when you click on "show all posts"

A Moderator on Global Ignore??

Strange, indeed.

I wonder if the date "9/25/05" is supposed to be a clue. Or maybe something else that was posted on that day.
