Now if only the U.S could follow suit,Instead we basically roll out the red carpet, with a wide open border. And whos to say all these people rushing in are here to "work"?In a "war on terror" protecting your borders should be priority one,but thats not the case here.Hats off to the UK.

(TimesOnline.UK)-After 600,000 come from Eastern Europe in two years the UK announces strict conditions on work permits for Bulgarian and Romanian migrants to prevent a further flood of workers.

Bulgarians and Romanians could face £1,000 on-the-spot fines if they are caught working illegally in Britain once the two Balkan countries join the European Union in January.
www.timesonline.co.uk...

The fines - and penalties of up to £5,000 for businesses who employ them illegally - were announced today by John Reid, the Home Secretary, as part of a complex package of measures to prevent a flood of migrants after the next round of EU enlargement.

More than half a million Eastern European workers, mostly from Poland, have arrived in Britain since 2004, when eight countries joined the trading bloc, but government and local authorities fear a further influx could prove politically damaging.

In a move reminiscent of Labour's on-the-spot fines for yobs, Romanians and Bulgarians - known as A2 nationals - who are caught working illegally face instant fines of up to £1,000. Under the rules a worker would face a further fine of £5,000 if their case goes to court and they are convicted.

All that means is those who are supposed to control the flow of immigrants coming in can now up the price before they turn the other way.

Of course sir / madam, the price is now 5k per person for me to not notice you walking straight through and me losing all details of you ever wanting to be here, in fact you are not here and please do enjoy all our state perks.

Not a chance of it happening, and the figures they will pump out on the news will be laughable, just remember these new tighter measures when you are replaced at work not by a robot but by a immigrant who will work longer hours for less pay and still be entitled to more than you.

Good, now all the young Aussies and Kiwis on their working holidays will be able to get bar jobs again.

Good point Deessell, and we can usually understand them too

As far as I am concerned this is just a token move and does not go nearly far enough.
A complete freeze on any further immigration should by now be mandatory. We have enough spongers of our own without having to support foreign johnny spongers as well
