I don't know if anyone has heard this before. But I once heard that when Thomas Edison invented the electric light bulb that it was one that did not burn out. That the first one in his house still worked.

This is something I heard a few years ago. I think that light bulbs just lasted longer back then. And they did eventually did burn out. Anyone else heard about this?

Thanks for the link Alpha Grey. That sure was an interesting read.

It's amazing that after 104 years that the bulbs is still burning.

Just goes to prove the conspiracy here. It's all about the $$$
Just think, we could all have lifetime light bulbs....instead we have bulbs that burn out every other months! Keeps us running to the store to buy more:bnghd:

In primary school, my class went to a power station were they have a big museum of electrics, Thomas Edison invented the light bulb but they didn't have the gas that goes in the bulb, SO the light bulbs back then were rubbish and burnt out very quickly APPARENTLY...

The 104-year bulb is still going due to its low power usage and thick carbon filament.

That bulb, if used today, would draw more current than the modern bulbs of today and would not put out as much light as the bulbs of today either.

Though it has lasted so long, if it were to be used, and then see the electric bill after a month, it would not last very long guaranteed!!! Id take that sucker and smash it against the wall!!

Cheers!!!!

I don't get it.

But must be just cuz this is a really old post.

Don't we have light bulbs that last a whole life time now anyway and then some?

Could be wrong, but I'm quite certain that's the new tech.

And plus I would have thought we had these back in 06-08 when this was reviewed.
