I would like to start this thread in the question of what is the purpose of rituals. Curious o see some people write some provoking rituals as well.

We have our daily rituals, religous, rituals etc. However do you agree in a magical sense you would do such and such a ritual and have such and such happen? Also on study of rituals you may have read on various occult and secret societies can you see what was trying to be done, obtained, or provoked by or for the intiate?

Now is the depth of results solely expected by the canidate or does it have alot to do with the whole group's knowledge of the ritual and understanding of it?

when the mind and the body are one, the soul will join them.

The purpose of the ritual is to find that harmony between mind and body, where the soul can be communicated with and allowed to express itself for the specific purpose of the ritual.

Sometimes rituals are personal, and performed solo, other times a ritual is performed as a group, for the good of the group... In the case of the former, we often see the use of love rituals, rituals to add in the aquiring of things one desires, be it money, power, health or even death. In the case of the latter, all the same could be found.. but more often you can expect the intended result for the betterment of the group performing the ritual...

Thats the laymens summary of it, but we have several people here who will be happy to go more indepth on the subject

I agree for the most part. You also have to do the ritual correctly for it to work. It's sorta like baking bread, you have to have the right ingredients (flour, yeast, etc..) the right tools (spoons, measuring cups, an oven) and the knowledge to use the tools/ingredients (kneeding, oven temp, rising time) to get the desired result. If anything is not done correctly your bread will not turn out right.

Most of them pretty much just tell you what the result will be. in some cases you do have to think about what it really means. How it will happen is up to nature.

Are you talking about initiation rituals here? In that case the odds are the candidate will not expect any particular result other than initiation (And he might not notice the results of the initiation for some time).

The greater the groups knowledge, the better their performance of the ritual. The better the performance of the ritual, the greater the results will be on the candidate.
