It seems the heat is being turned up a few degrees. Looks like the Canadian government would like the American Justice system have another look at the 'Exile to Canada' sentence.

Toronto Star

ST. CATHARINES — An American schoolteacher serving three years' probation in Canada has been arrested by Canadian border guards.

Hamilton's CH News reported today that Malcolm Watson was arrested by Canadian officials while returning from a court appearance today in Buffalo, N.Y.

-snip-

The sentence will be rendered null and void and Watson will be forced to return to court in the U.S. if the Canadian government bars him from entering the country.

The judge is correct and has a basic knowledge of the Canadian system. Our laws in this area are currently a lot weaker up here and they know it. I fail to see why anybody would defend this or want to get into a peeing match over it. I'm hoping that the current government follows through on their sensible promise to change the law and bring back some sanity to this country which has slid so far left in recent decades for no apparent reason other than to just do it.

Are you defending the initial decision by the judge to exile the man to Canada for three years rather than jail time?
