Phoenix convention center site yields valuable artifacts

A survey of the ground for the new proposed Phoenix convention center has revealed a set of pit houses that are the earliest known examples of this kind of house in the Phoenix area. In addition to houses and tools, several graves were found. The dig, which was finished in September, yielded 3,500 sacks of material relating to the Hohokam.

I thought that Arizona belonged to the Aztecs (Mexicas), at least according to our friends at AZTLAN and MECHA.

I find it sad that they were given a deadline of 30 days. Kinda shows where folks minds are, these days.

Nope. Aztecs never got that far north. They speak languages from the same family, but one group couldn't understand the other. And their artwork's quite different, too.

One god, however, remains the same in both groups (and he's the most ancient one, i believe): Tlaloc.

actually the Hopi claim to have once been part of the Aztec culture
but they headed north following the directions of the Pahana's fire tablets a long time ago
on the way they became a pueblo people and were known as the Anasazi
quite a claim but recent dna studies seem to have borne it out
like they'd speak with forked tongue about their own history anyway
thats just everyone else that does that iirc
