State Dept. Official: 'Arrogance' and 'Stupidity' Hindered US Goals In Iraq

A senior U.S. diplomat said the United States had shown “arrogance” and “stupidity” in Iraq but was now ready to talk with any group except Al-Qaida in Iraq to facilitate national reconciliation.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera television aired late Saturday, Alberto Fernandez, director of public diplomacy in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the State Department offered an unusually candid assessment of America’s war in Iraq.

“We tried to do our best but I think there is much room for criticism because, undoubtedly, there was arrogance and there was stupidity from the United States in Iraq,” he said.

"We are open to dialogue because we all know that, at the end of the day, the solution to the hell and the killings in Iraq is linked to an effective Iraqi national reconciliation," he said, speaking in Arabic from Washington. "The Iraqi government is convinced of this."

The question of negotiations between the United States and insurgency factions has repeatedly surfaced over the past two years, but details have been sketchy. One issue that was often raised in connection with such negotiations was the extent of amnesty the United States and its Iraqi allies were willing to offer to the insurgents if they disarmed and joined the political process.

Well it is nice that the State Depratment finally admits their mistakes and calls the Liberation of Iraq what it is.

Admitng your mistakes is the First step to start the process of repairing that mistakes.

So who is paying for the Arrogance and Stupidty?

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack, in Moscow with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, later said that Fernandez disputes the description of his comments.

“What he says is, that is not an accurate reflection of what he said,” McCormack said.

of course he didn't real say that..misinterpeted, bad translator, mis-understood what he realy meant......make sure NO dissention for the official line..........
i wonder if he will suddenly resign.......

The price of the burden is felt by the wholeof our world, whether or not people openly admit to it or accept it, this is a world war, and it is not going to end as soon as the other openly or publically announced world wars.

normally when a man decides a decision,
IS WRONG, and sends hundereds of thousands to a grisley death..
he's hung in the town square.
What happens when he continually DENIES the facts, causing CONTINUING DEATH?
What happens when it turns out he made BUCKET loads of money, of this 'mistake'

For alot of people this is like a kick in the teeth.
Theyve been saying this since day 1, when no body would listen.
Now when people are listening, they shrug there shoulders...

Its not just people dying thats bad.
Its them screaming in agonizing pain, lying in a street, with there legs blown off, shrapening through out there body.. blood spurting from there nose, mouth, arms, chest... screaming for there parents... only to see a dusty iraqi road, littered with dead people, rubbish, sewage and foreigners with guns.

I gaurantee they are not sitting there shrugging there shoulders going ''well atleast they are ADMITTING the truth now''

They are dying a horrible death, never seeing there family friends or childeren again because of the 'mistakes' this administration has made.
