Pride. Why? Is it right or wrong?

Topic started on 10-11-2003 @ 06:51 AM by Cearbhall

You often hear people throwing around this word, like "I'm proud of you or this or that." Is this type of pride the same as the Pride that the Bible warns us about? Can you avoid the negative use of pride while using it in a positive way or is Pride all bad? If it is bad what other words can be used in substitute of Pride?

The pride which the Gods say we are not allowed to have is the pride that we can be better then God... because then we will turn up just like Lucifer... that kind of pride isn't really allowed in Gods world... no, it really isn't.

Pride is a good thing. If you think that the "Marters" were not feeling pride in their decision to do what was "right", then you are wrong. Pride is an emotion that allows us to feel good about things we have done or accomplished. Only a religion would be able to say that feeling good about yourself is a bad thing. What an upside down mess we have when people actually are afraid to feel good about themselves because they fear a religion.

I feel that nothing is completely good or bad. There are always positive sides and negative sides to all things. Pride gives people confidence and the will to live. Excessive pride can lead to overconfidence and arragence.
