ken lay gets away with it again (or his family does)

well, some kind judge has revoked the 10 conspiracy and fraud convictions from the 'dead' ken lay. this means no-one can touch the $44 million held by his family.

this is all due to a sort of loophole in the law thing called 'abatement' which concerns convicted persons who die before they can appeal their sentence.

it should also be pointed out that congress broke up one week ago without acting on a last-minute proposal which would have allowed prosecuters to seize the money in such cases. perfect timing dont you think?

I didn't expect anything less. The 44Mil is also what they were seeking to recover, and likely less than slippery Ken actually had sqirreled away.
Maybe there are family members with stories to tell should the conviction stand and the money be siezed. Sure wouldn't want that to happen right before the mid-terms

Perfect timing, showing the supporters that they will be financially protected no matter what they may do wrong.

The guy's dead, I guess it makes sense that the case against him would be vacated if he didn't have the opportunity to take full advantage of the appeals process.

Maybe they should change the law so lawyers can still go through appeals even if the person is dead.
